Softball wraps up Fall Festival on Sunday
October 01, 2009 | Softball
The Wisconsin softball team concludes its 2009 Fall Festival this Sunday at Goodman Diamond as it hosts UW-Parkside and Green Bay in a tripleheader.
Wisconsin and UW-Parkside will begin the day with a game at 11 a.m. The Rangers will then take on Green Bay at 1 p.m., while the Badgers and Phoenix conclude the UW fall schedule with a 3 p.m. game.
The Badgers have not faced the Rangers in regular season competition before, but they are quite familiar with the Phoenix. The two teams have faced each other in each of the last three seasons, with Wisconsin owning a 5-1 mark in those games. Last season, the teams split a doubleheader.
While Sunday's game is in Madison, UW and Green Bay will meet up again on March 31 for a regular season doubleheader in Green Bay. Overall, Wisconsin holds a 22-7-1 record against the Phoenix.
Sunday marks the second weekend of the Fall Festival. Last Sunday, the Badgers squared off against Winona State in a doubleheader.
Freshman Jordan Skinner had a hot bat, collecting hits in 4 of 7 at-bats (.571), drove in one run and stole two bases. Fellow freshman Shannel Blackshear led the team with 3 RBI in the two games, while junior Ashley Hanewich batted .600 (3-for-5) in both games.
Admission is free to all games and free parking is also available in lots 60 and 76 next to Goodman Diamond.
