MADISON, Wis. -- Maggie Meyer has yet to be defeated in the pool this season and, through two weeks of the season, she also has yet to lose her spot as the Big Ten Conference’s top swimmer.

Meyer earned her second-consecutive Big Ten Women’s Swimmer of the Week honor Tuesday, as the league announced its weekly awards.

The junior was impressive for the Badgers in their Big Ten opener last week, a 216-83 win over Iowa. Meyer remained unbeaten in seven races on the season after picking up four more individual event wins against the Hawkeyes, setting two pool records and recording a pair of NCAA championships consideration marks in the process.

The North Oaks, Minn., native lowered her NCAA time and shaved a full second off the UW Natatorium pool record in the 100-yard backstroke, winning in 54.36. She followed that performance with another pool record and NCAA time of 1:58.17 in the 200 back, winning the race by a full seven seconds.

Meyer also factored into the Badgers' wins in the 200 medley relay -- contributing the lead backstroke leg -- and in the 400 freestyle relay, where she clocked a 50.65 split to narrowly miss NCAA consideration in the 100 free.

Meyer has now earned the last three weekly swimming honors for the Badgers, dating back to February 2008.

Meyer and the UW women’s team are set to take part in their first invitational event of the season by traveling to Dallas, Texas, for the SMU Classic this Friday and Saturday. Events get underway at 6:30 p.m. each day at Perkins Natatorium.
