MADISON, Wis. -- Youth softball players looking to improve their skills are invited to attend the University of Wisconsin Softball Winter Skills Camp. Open to any and all entrants between the ages of 8 and 18, the camp takes place on Saturday, Jan. 9 and Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 at the Dave McClain Athletic Facility and the adjacent Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center (the Shell).
Five different clinics are available in which players can participate. The defensive clinic will teach key fundamentals and techniques, while the hitting clinic focuses on improving the Fastpitch swing. Those who take the hitting clinic can also take part in the lefty slappers clinic which looks to improve bunting and slapping from the left side of the plate.
Day two of the camp begins with a pitching clinic that emphasizes fundamentals, mechanics, power and speed. Those who are 12 years of age or older are also eligible to attend a second clinic that provides advanced training for rise, drop and curve.
