Team Notes
• Wisconsin's 45 points today are the most the Badgers have scored against Michigan in the 73 meetings between the two teams. The previous high for UW was 37, set the last time the two teams played in Camp Randall Stadium, Nov. 10, 2007.
• In its last eight games, Wisconsin has forced 19 turnovers and scored points off of 12 of those turnovers (10 TDs, 2 FGs). Over that span, UW has turned 10 interceptions into eight touchdowns.
• Wisconsin has now won 30 straight games when scoring at least 30 points.
• Also, the Badgers improved to 26-0 under head coach Bret Bielema when racking up at least 30 points.
Offensive Notes
• Wisconsin converted all six of its red-zone chances into points against the Wolverines, including five touchdowns and a 28-yard field goal by Philip Welch.
• For the season, the Badgers have now scored touchdowns on 32 of their 41 red-zone trips (78 percent) and have found points in 39 of those 41 red-zone attempts (95 percent). Wisconsin's best red-zone TD ratio on record (dating back to 1994) is 70.0 percent in 2005.
• Scott Tolzien tied his career high (set earlier this season against Michigan State) with four touchdown passes today, matching the third-best single-game TD total in school history. Tolzien is just the third quarterback in school history to have two four-touchdown games in the same season (Darrell Bevell - 1993 and Jim Sorgi - 2003 are the other two).
• Tolzien also tied a school record for touchdowns responsible for with five. He's the 11th player to be responsible for five touchdowns in a game, and the first since Brian Calhoun did so against Illinois in 2005.
• UW is just the sixth team in history to throw four touchdown passes in a game against Michigan.
• Tolzien's 14 TD passes this season are tied for the 10th-most in school history and already three more than UW had all of last season.
• Garrett Graham's 22-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter was his team-leading fifth of the season and the 14th of his career. He needs just one more TD reception to move into a tie for sixth in UW history for career touchdown receptions. His TD today was his first since hauling in three scoring grabs against Michigan State on Sept. 26.
• Nick Toon caught five passes for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Toon also recorded the first two-TD game of his career, the second time a Badger has caught multiple touchdowns this season (Graham had three receiving TDs against Michigan State).
• Sophomore running back John Clay became the 13th different Badger to run for at least 1,000 yards in a season. He ran for 156 yards today, giving him 1,129 on the season. He is the sixth sophomore in school history to go over the 1,000-yard mark, joining P.J. Hill, Anthony Davis, Ron Dayne, Billy Marek and Alan Ameche. This is the fifth straight year a UW running back has gained at least 1,000 yards, and the 15th time in the last 17 seasons.
• Clay now has 2,013 rushing yards in his career, putting him in 11th place on UW's all-time list and making him the 12th running back in school history to gain at least 2,000 yards in a career. He needs 99 yards to break into the Badgers' all-time top 10 in career rushing, with the 10th spot currently held by Carl McCullough (2,111 yards).
• Clay, the Big Ten's leading rusher entering today's game, went over the 100-yard mark on the ground for the third straight game and the sixth time this season (and ninth time in his career).
• Clay, who entered today's game leading the Big Ten in touchdowns, scored his 12th touchdown of the season and the 21st of his career with a 1-yard run in the second quarter.
Defensive Notes
• The Badgers allowed just 71 rushing yards, well below the Wolverines' Big Ten-leading average of 208.3 rushing yards per game entering the contest.
• UW has held all seven of its Big Ten Conference opponents to fewer than 100 yards rushing this season. Dating back to last season, the Badgers have held 10 of their last 11 Big Ten opponents to fewer than 100 rushing yards.
• Freshman Chris Borland set a career high with team-high 11 tackles Saturday, including 1.5 tackles-for-loss.
• Senior defensive tackle Jeff Stehle entered today's game with 2.0 tackles for loss in his career. He matched that total in the first quarter with 2.0 TFLs for 14 yards, including a 10-yard quarterback sack. Stehle finished with three total tackles.
• Junior cornerback Niles Brinkley recorded his second interception of the season and the sixth of his career in the third quarter. UW has 13 interceptions on the season, the team's most since recording 15 in 2006.
Special Teams Notes
• J.J. Watt blocked a 19-yard field goal attempt by Michigan in the first quarter. It was Wisconsin's first blocked field goal since Jan. 1, 2008, when Elijah Hodge recorded a blocked FG against Tennessee in the Outback Bowl.
