
Schuman announces men's golf signees

Badger men's golf coach Jim Scuhman announced the signing of two golfers to national letters of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin this fall. Stephane Dubois of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and Robbie Jacobsen from Racine, Wis., committed to the Badgers this week.
The 6-2 Dubois is ranked No. 74 for 2010 grads and No. 132 overall in the Golfweek junior boys' rankings. A two-time qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2008 and 2009, he shot 71-71—142 to win the 2009 Future Collegiate World Tour (FCWT) Cog Hill Classic at Cog Hill No. 4 (Dubsdread). He also won the 2009 FCWT Purdue Open on the Kampen Course in West Lafayette shooting a 69-77—146.
Dubois was fourth at the 2009 Ontario Junior Boys Championship at Whistle Bear Golf Club. He finished fourth at the recently concluded 2009 Optimist Tournament of Champions at the Crooked Cat course in Winter Garden, Fla., with a 72-72—144. He was chosen to the Provincial Under-19 men’s golf team in 2009 and represented Ontario on the Can-Am and Williamson Cup Teams in 2009. His team won the Central Ontario District 5 high school golf championship in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
A four year honor roll student and Ontario scholar, Dubois played competitive hockey for several years and also lettered in golf, basketball, volleyball and cross country at his high school, St. John’s College.
Jacobsen, a junior at William Horlick High School in Racine, is ranked No. 63 in the Golfweek junior boys’ rankings for 2010 high school graduates, and is the No. 1 ranked junior golfer in Wisconsin according to the POLO national golf rankings.
He had three top-5 finishes in four national American Junior Golf Association events in 2009. He was named a 2009 Wisconsin high school all-state team member, and a member of the 2009 Wisconsin High School all-state academic team. He was also named the Wisconsin Southeast Conference player of the year in 2008 and 2009.
