MADISON, Wis. -- After an impressive weekend of conference championships, the national rankings were released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with the Badgers currently ranked No. 10, five spots up from last week's poll.
With a unanimous 12 first-place votes, Stanford sits atop the rankings, having won every race they competed in this year except the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in which their runners did not complete the course. Stanford is followed by Oklahoma State, Oregon, Northern Arizona and Colorado.
Coming off a tremendous weekend at the Big Ten Championships where the top four Wisconsin runners earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, the Badgers have moved up back into the top 10. The UW is ranked 16 spots higher than the next Great Lakes team, Butler, who sits at No. 26. Ohio State and Minnesota are the only other Big Ten schools ranked in the top 30, sitting at No. 28 and No. 29, respectively.
This past Sunday, for the 11th-straight season, the Wisconsin men's cross country team stood atop the podium as Big Ten champions. The Badgers won in dominating fashion, posting a team score of 26, 65 points higher than the second place team, Ohio State.
Wisconsin now holds claim to 43 Big Ten team titles, 31 more than Michigan State, which owns the next-most championships with 14.
Bucky's Locker Room now has men's cross country commemorative t-shirts for sale.
