BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --
Wisconsin vs. Indiana Post-Game Notes
Nov. 7, 2009
Memorial Stadium
Team Notes
• In the last seven games, Wisconsin has forced 18 turnovers. They have scored points off of 11 of those turnovers (nine TDs, two FGs). Two other turnovers led to the Badgers running out the clock to end the game (Minnesota and Purdue). UW has only been forced to punt following a turnover twice in those seven games. Nine of those turnovers were interceptions and Wisconsin has turned seven of those into touchdowns.
Offensive Notes
• Wisconsin had two 100-yard rushers (John Clay and Montee Ball) and a 100-yard receiver (Nick Toon) in the same game for just the fourth time in school history. The last time it happened was on Sept. 24, 1994 in a 62-13 win over Indiana. Terrell Fletcher ran for 146 yards and Brent Moss carried for 110 yards while Tony Simmons had 114 yards receiving.
• Clay went over the 100-yard rushing mark in the first half for the second consecutive game. He did not play in the second half and finished the game with 15 carries for 134 yards. He entered the game leading the Big Ten in rushing touchdowns and scored his 11th TD of the season in the second quarter.
• The Badgers are now 6-0 on the season when Clay scores a touchdown.
• Ball registered career highs in both carries (27) and yards (117). He is the first true freshman at UW to run for at least 100 yards since Zach Brown had 250 yards against Minnesota on Nov. 17, 2007. Ball also scored two touchdowns today, the first two-TD game of his career. His previous career highs were nine carries vs. Purdue and 21 yards vs. Iowa.
• Toon registered his first-career 100-yard receiving game Saturday, catching five passes for 123 yards.
• The Badgers gained a season-high 488 total yards of offense vs. Indiana. After going over 400 yards of total offense in the first five games of the season, this was UW's first 400-yard game since Minnesota. Saturday's 488 yards of offense was UW's highest output since gaining 601 yards of offense at Indiana last season.
• Quarterback Scott Tolzien hooked up with Isaac Anderson for an 18-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring for Wisconsin. It was Tolzien's 10th TD pass of the season and his first since the Minnesota game. For Anderson, it was his second receiving touchdown of the season (his other one came on an 80-yard pass on the Badgers' first play from scrimmage this season).
• UW's 18-play drive that ate up 8:23 in the second quarter was its longest drive of the season both in terms of plays and time of possession.
• Wisconsin went over 200 yards rushing for the second-straight game and the fourth game this season.
• UW is 6-0 this season when rushing for at least 150 yards as a team.
Defensive Notes
• Senior defensive end O'Brien Schofield entered the game tied for the NCAA lead for tackles for loss. He recorded 2.0 TFLs today, including 1.0 sack. His quarterback hurry also resulted in Wisconsin's second interception of the day. He now has 18.5 TFLs and 7.5 sacks on the season.
• Senior free safety Chris Maragos recorded his fourth interception of the season and fifth of his career in the second quarter.
• True freshman Chris Borland recorded his first career interception in the third quarter. Wisconsin now has 12 interceptions on the season, the same amount the Badgers have had in each of the last two years. Borland entered the game as just one of three players in the country with at least three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
• Borland led the Badgers with a career-high nine tackles vs. the Hoosiers, including his sixth TFL of the season.
• Wisconsin held Indiana to just 63 yards rushing. UW has not given up 100 yards rushing to any conference opponent this season.
Special Teams Notes
• Punter Brad Nortman posted an average of 44.2 yards per punt. He has now registered an average of 44.0 yards or better in six of Wisconsin's last eight games.
