Wisconsin Post-Game Notes
Wisconsin at Hawaii
Dec. 5, 2009
Aloha Stadium - Honolulu, Hawaii

Team Notes
•    This was just the second regular season game UW has played in December since 1900. The only other time the Badgers played a regular-season game in December was when they defeated Michigan State, 41-20, on Dec. 4, 1993.
•    UW improved to 27-20 all-time in night games and has won 23 of its last 26 night games. The Badgers have won six straight road night games.
•    Wisconsin extended its regular-season winning streak against non-conference opponents to 24 games, dating back to 2003.

Offensive Notes
•    John Clay tied his career high with three rushing touchdowns today. That gives him 16 on the season and 25 in his career. That ties him for fifth place on UW's single-season list and eighth on the school's career list.
•    With 172 yards today, Clay moved into 10th place on UW's career rushing yards (2,280 yards). It was the fifth straight 100-yard game for Clay, his eighth of the season and 11th of his career. His eight 100-yard games this season ties him for sixth in UW history and his 11 career 100-yard games is ninth-best in school history. Clay had 111 yards in the first half, the third time this season he has run for 100 yards in the opening half (Purdue and Indiana).
•    Quarterback Scott Tolzien passed for more than 200 yards for the third-straight game and seventh time this season. He now has 2,445 passing yards on the year, the third-best single-season total in school history.
•    Tolzien completed 16 of his 20 pass attempts against the Warriors, good for a season-high completion percentage of 80.0. Tolzien has completed 15 or more passes in 10 of the Badgers' 12 games this season.
•    Wisconsin scored at least 30 points for the fifth straight game and ninth time this season.
•    The Badgers' 51 points was their largest offensive output since scoring 55 in a 55-20 win over Indiana on Nov. 8, 2008.
•    True freshman Travis Frederick started his first career game at left guard, and the third start overall of his career. Frederick became the first true freshman offensive lineman in Wisconsin history to start a season-opener when he started at center vs. Northern Illinois. Frederick also started at center vs. Fresno State before injuring his ankle.
•    Junior John Moffitt, a first-team All-Big Ten selection at guard this season, started at center for the first time this year. Moffitt started all 13 games at center a year ago.
•    Wisconsin scored a touchdown on its opening possession of the game for the fifth time this season.

Defensive Notes

•    Hawaii entered the game ranked third in the country in passing offense, averaging 348.7 yards per game. The Badger defense limited the Warriors to just 197 yards through the air, their lowest total of the season.
•    The Badgers limited a ninth-straight opponent to less than 100 yards rushing. That is the longest streak in school history. Hawaii's rushing total of 17 yards was the Warriors' second-lowest total this season, and the fewest rushing yards allowed by the Badgers in a game this season.
•    Wisconsin sacked Hawaii's quarterbacks six times today, a season-high. It is the fifth time this season UW has recorded at least 3.0 sacks, and the first time since recording three sacks vs. Purdue.
•    Jay Valai's interception in the first quarter was the first of his career (24 career starts). Blake Sorensen's fourth-quarter interception was also the first of his career. As a team, Wisconsin has picked off 16 passes this season, the most since 2005 (also 16). UW has forced 27 turnovers this year.
•    Defensive end O'Brien Schofield had two quarterback sacks, giving him 10.0 on the season and 22.5 tackles for loss. He ranks fifth on UW's single-season TFL list and tied for sixth on the single-season sacks list.
•    Defensive end J.J. Watt had 3.0 TFLs, including two quarterback sacks. He now has 13.5 tackles for loss this season.

Special Teams Notes
•    David Gilreath's 43-yard and 51-yard kickoff returns were the Badgers' longest this season and Gilreath's longest since a 55-yarder against Michigan on Sept. 27, 2008. His 45-yard reception in the second quarter was the third-longest of his career and longest since a 49-yarder vs. Cal-Poly on Nov. 22, 2008.
•    Gilreath accounted for 169 all-purpose yards (54 receiving, 102 on returns, 13 rushing) today. He has 4,045 career all-purpose yards, becoming just the sixth Badger to amass at least 4,000 career all-purpose yards.
•    Gilreath's 8-yard touchdown run was his second rushing touchdown of the season and the eighth touchdown of his career (four rushing, three receiving, one punt return).
•    With two kickoff returns today, Gilreath tied the Big Ten record for career kickoff returns (106). He is tied with former Badger Brandon Williams and Michigan State's Derrick Mason.
•    Linebacker Chris Borland made his first career point after touchdown, converting the PAT after John Clay's 15-yard TD run in the third quarter. He went 3-for-3 on PATs for the game.
