The game opened up with a combined five fumbles in the first quarter, but the Badgers got out to a 3-0 lead after a 36-yard field goal by Philip Welch.

The first quarter ended with the Badgers at the Wofford 10-yard line, and on the opening play of the second quarter, Tolzien found Lance Kendricks for a 3-yard touchdown to put Wisconsin up 10-0.

It was the first career touchdown catch for Kendricks, a junior.

On Wofford's next drive, two true freshmen stepped up on special teams to give the Badgers another TD. Chris Borland blocked Chris Tommie's punt and David Gilbert recovered it in the end zone to put Wisconsin up, 17-0, with 12:50 left in the second quarter.

The Badgers scored touchdowns on two of their final three drives of the first half. After Wofford turned the ball over on downs midway through the period, Wisconsin began its drive at the Terrier 19. After three plays, Erik Smith scampered 4 yards into the end zone for his first career TD.

Before halftime, Tolzien found Garrett Graham for another touchdown, which capped off a 10-play, 60-yard drive to give Wisconsin a 31-0 lead heading into halftime.

Both teams came up empty on their first drives of the second half, but Wofford finally got on the board after a 7-yard TD run by Austin Palmer with 5:29 left in the third.

Phillips came in on the next UW possession and marched the Badgers 62 yards down the field for his first career scoring drive. Phillips ran the ball twice on the possession and completed a pass to Kendricks before Zach Brown scampered into the end zone for a 2-yard TD run.

In the fourth quarter, Phillips led the Badgers on another scoring drive and showed his speed with a 25-yard run. That gave the Badgers a first down, and Brown capped off the drive with another 2-yard dash into the end zone to give Wisconsin a 44-7 lead with 9:37 remaining.

Wofford's final touchdown came with 2:24 remaining. Palmer had a 1-yard TD run that finished a 13-play, 73-yard drive for the Terriers.

Brown finished with 12 carries for 63 yards while John Clay got his first career start and carried the ball 12 times for 70 yards. Smith finished with 10 carries for 54 yards.

On the receiving end, Kendricks and Nick Toon each finished with six grabs for 70 yards.

Defensively, Culmer St. Jean led the Badgers with 15 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss. Mike Taylor added nine tackles and two TFLs of his own.

Wofford did not complete its first pass until the third quarter. The Terriers finished with just 45 passing yards, the fewest for a UW opponent since the Badgers limited Western Kentucky to 28 yards in a 24-6 win on Sept. 29, 2002.

With the win, Wisconsin improves to 3-0 as it heads into Big Ten Conference action next week, when Michigan State comes to town for an 11 a.m. matchup at Camp Randall.
