September 24, 2009 | Softball
Road trips to Arizona, Florida, California and Oklahoma, plus games against 13 teams from last year's NCAA tournament highlight the University of Wisconsin softball team's 2010 schedule. The Badgers open the season with a tournament in Tempe, Ariz., on Feb. 11 and play their first game at Goodman Diamond on April 7.
The season kicks off at the Arizona State Kajikawa Classic. Three teams in the tournament, Texas A&M, California and Cal-State Fullerton, all participated in last year's NCAA tournament.
Following a trip to Miami, Fla., the Badgers head to the West Coast for a tournament in Santa Barbara, Calif. which includes NCAA tournament-participant North Dakota State. The team stays in California for a tournament in San Diego on March 5-7. The field includes Fresno State and host San Diego State, both of whom made it to NCAA regional play last season.
The Badgers' final tournament of the season takes them to Stillwater, Okla. for five games, including a matchup against host Oklahoma State, an NCAA tournament team from a year ago.
After a game at Nebraska, Wisconsin opens Big Ten play at Ohio State on March 27-28. Green Bay and Michigan represent the last of the season-opening road games, as the Badgers move back to Goodman Diamond for a home game against South Dakota State on April 7. This game marks the beginning of a two-week homestand that brings Penn State, Iowa, Purdue, Northern Illinois and South Dakota to Madison from April 7-21.
After alternating home and road games through the end of April and into May, the team goes on its final road trip of the season as it heads to Indiana and then Minnesota.
The Badgers conclude their season at home against Michigan State on May 14-15.
