Wisconsin swept Michigan State for the first time since 2001. The Badgers also won in East Lansing for the first time since 2002.

The Badgers are 14-4 this season, the best start under Coach Lisa Stone and the best start since the 2001-02 season when the team was 16-1.

The 4-3 Big Ten start is also the best for the Badgers under Stone and the best since the 2001-02 team started the conference season 7-0.

For the second game in a row, freshman Taylor Wurtz led all scorers. Wurtz, a 6-0 guard, scored a game-high 16 points tonight vs. the Spartans. She had a career-high 27 points vs. Michigan on Jan. 10.

UW won its first Big Ten Conference game on the road this season. The Badgers were 0-3 on the Big Ten road with losses at Ohio State, Iowa and Illinois.

Sophomore Ashley Thomas pulled down a career-high five rebounds. It was her second straight game with a career high in boards.

For the fourth straight game, the Badgers gave up less than 53 points in a game. Wisconsin is giving up only 49.2 points per game over the stretch.

For the first time in 88 games, Michigan State lost to a team when it held an opponent to under 50 points. The Spartans had won 87 straight games when holding an opponent to under 50 points.

The Spartans came into the game averaging 71.4 points per game and for the second time, the Badgers held State to more than 20 points below its season average. MSU was averaging 74 points per game when Wisconsin defeated it 62-54 on Dec. 28.

Wisconsin scored a season-low 48 points and also shot a season-low 32.7 percent from the field. The Badgers also made a season-low 18 field goals and dished out a season-low four assists.

UW held MSU to only 18 points in the second half, a season-low for opponents. In their last three games, the Badgers are outscoring opponents 103-64 in the second half of play.

The win moves the Badgers up to fourth place in the Big Ten standings at 4-3.

The Badgers have won their last three Big Ten games, the longest conference winning streak since winning five straight from Feb. 14, 2008 through Feb. 28, 2008.
