"Iowa played great and they threw a lot at us, but I think this is huge for us," Badger senior Allison Wack said. "The two of us came in with the same record and it really was a battle. We had some errors and they had some errors, but it's who comes out and finishes the game. I think the fourth and fifth game we really proved when we finish we're a really good team."

A timeout from the Wisconsin bench helped the team regroup as UW came out and iced the Hawkeyes with kills from Thompson, Hickey, and Wack to put the Badgers back in the game.
Three more tied scores and the two teams found themselves at a 24-24 tie late in the first set. The Hawkeyes answered back with a 3-0 run of their own to take the score to 8-8. After a tight stretch, Iowa found themselves up 13-12. Wack came up with a big kill to once again tie up the score and Hickey followed suite to put the set at match point. A timeout from Iowa didn't faze the Badgers and Gabrielsen took the set with a kill for a 15-13, and Wisconsin's second straight Big Ten win.
"Being the two youngest teams in the conference, you're going to have some ups and downs," head coach Pete Waite said. "It really came down to Wack who played one of the best matches of her career. She really played with confidence and was strong attacking against the block."
The Badgers continue their weekend road trip against No. 19-ranked Minnesota on Sunday at 1 p.m.
"We can learn some things from this game," Waite added. "It'll be tough against Minnesota, but if we come out strong, we'll have a shot at them."
