GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The No. 4 Wisconsin wrestling team faced UNC Greensboro at the Fleming Gymnasium Friday night in its first official dual of the 2010-11 season.
The Badgers defeated the Spartans 34-12, including six-consecutive wins.

The matchup started at 125 lbs., where redshirt sophomore Shane McQuade took on Manuel Ramirez. Ramirez won the bout by a 14-8 margin. McQuade scored the first takedown of the match and six escapes. The win gave the Spartans a 3-0 lead.
At 133 lbs., No. 3 Tyler Graff pinned Jamel Johnson at 2:55. Before recording the fall, Graff scored four takedowns and three nearfall points, leading to a Wisconsin advantage of 6-3.
The Spartans followed Graff's pin with one of its own at 141 lbs. Redshirt freshman Danny Arnel fell to Michael Crowley at 4:41, regaining a 9-6 lead for UNC Greensboro.
No. 16 redshirt sophomore Cole Schmitt was then defeated 9-7 by No. 17 Ivan Lopouchanski at 149 lbs. The wrestlers were even at seven apiece going into the end of the third period, but Lopouchanksi scored a takedown to claim the win. Schmitt registered a takedown, a reversal and three escapes in the match. The victory extended the Spartans lead to 12-6.
Redshirt freshman Shawn Perry then scored the third pin of the night over Jonathan Rodebaugh at 157 lbs. Perry's fall came at 6:22 and shutout his opponent the entire match. The win tied the matchup at 12-12.
No. 1 junior Andrew Howe then faced Travis Sheehy at 165 lbs. Howe scored five takedowns, three nearfall point and an escape before pinning Sheehy at 6:12. The Badgers' third pin on the night gave them a 18-12 lead.
No. 17 Ben Jordan then put the Cardinal and White up 22-12 with an 8-0 major decision over Byron Sigmon. Jordan scored three takedowns, an escape and riding time in the win.
At 184 lbs., No. 12 Travis Rutt defeated No. 16 Andrew Saunders in an 8-6 decision. The Badgers' fourth-straight win gave UW a 25-12 lead in competition. In the match, Rutt scored three takedowns and two escapes.
No. 2 Trevor Brandvold then recorded Wisconsin's fourth pin of the night at 2:22 over Caylor Williams. Brandvold scored two takedowns in the bout, helping the Badgers to a 31-12 lead.
In the final match of the night, No. 14 Eric Bugenhagen defeated Peter Sturgeon 3-2 at heavyweight. Bugenhagen scored a takedown in the first period and an escape in the second. The win gave Wisconsin a 34-12 victory over UNC Greensboro.
The Badgers return to the mat Sunday at the ACC Challenge, where they will face Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Chattanooga.
