MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin volleyball team sent its seniors off on a good note, defeating Iowa, 3-1, in the team's final home match of the season. The Badgers controlled the match with dominating offense, taking the win 25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 25-9.

Wisconsin (16-13 overall, 5-13 Big Ten) more than doubled up Iowa in total kills, putting away 60 while hitting .286. Iowa had just 28 kills and hit .065. The Badgers used two setters on senior night with senior Jessa Benson putting up 26 assists and junior Janelle Gabrielsen tallying 25 assists. 

Allison Wack made the most of her final home match, leading all players with 17 kills. The 6-0 outside hitter tallied a double-double on the night, adding 10 digs.

Alexis Mitchell finished close behind with 15 kills, six of which came in the fourth set, and had three blocks on the night. Gabrielsen led with a team-high four blocks, including three solos. Freshman Elise Walch also tallied double-figure digs with 10 putaways. 

Mallory Husz led Iowa's (7-20, 2-16) offense with seven kills and a .308 hitting percentage. She also led both teams with seven total blocks as the Hawkeyes outblocked the Badgers 10.5 - 9.

Kim Kuzma upped her double-digit dig streak to 13 matches with a match-high 16 digs. Wisconsin nearly doubled the Hawkeyes in digs as it finished with 52 saves compared to 30 for Iowa. 

Annemarie Hickey recorded two service aces for the Badgers as both teams scored five times from the service line.

Wisconsin broke open the first set at the 7-6 mark, going on a 10-2 run to take a 17-8 lead. Walch had three kills during the stretch. The Badgers finished off the first set with a dramatic 7-0 run, which included two service aces from Hickey.

In the second set, the Badgers broke a 12-12 tie with a 5-1 run behind two kills from Mitchell. The Hawkeyes cut the lead to 18-16 off a kill from Rachael Bedell but UW went on a 3-0 run behind a kill and block from Wack to go up 21-16 and put the set away.

Iowa was able to turn things around in the third set, going up 4-1 and leading by as many as eight (16-8). Wisconsin attempted a comeback late, going on a 9-3 run to pull within two (19-17). Iowa served for set point four times, before Megan Eskew finished things off with a kill.

The fourth set was a different story as the Badgers went up early and never looked back. Wisconsin got off to an 5-2 lead and continued its run for a 13-3 advantage. Mitchell made an impressive six kills in the Badgers final push taking the set and match, 25-9. 

Wisconsin wraps up its regular season next weekend, traveling to the state of Indiana to take on Purdue and Indiana. The Badgers will face Purdue on Friday in West Lafayette and Indiana on Saturday in Bloomington. Both matches are set for 6 p.m. start times.
