Lincoln, Neb.--Wisconsin lost the first game of a double-header to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 8-0, in five innings Wednesday afternoon in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers scored two runs in the third inning, one in the fourth and five in the third to put the game away.

The highlight of the game for Wisconsin was the play of junior Jennifer Krueger. With two stolen bases in the game, Krueger tied the school record for career stolen bases at UW with 41. She is now tied with Kris Zacher (2002-05).

Krueger stole her first base in the top of the first, taking second after reaching on a single.  Krueger then tied the school record in the top of the third as she drew a walk and then stole second.  In the game, Kruger singled once and was walked twice.

As the first two innings passed scoreless, Nebraska scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third, tallying two unearned runs.

Heidi Foland doubled off the right-center wall then advanced on a Nikki Haget groundout. Julie Brechtel then reached on an error, bringing Foland home. Ashley Guile then hit a double off the left field wall, bringing in the second unearned NU run.

The Badgers had a scoring opportunity in the top of the fourth. With one out, freshman Shannel Blackshear drove a single to left field. Freshman Abby Gregory then came in as a pinch runner and advanced to second on a passed ball with freshman Kendall Grim at the plate, but the Badgers were unable to drive Gregory home.

Nebraska scored another run in the bottom of the fourth with a Gabby Banda home run.

The Badgers had another scoring opportunity in the top of the fifth. Junior Ashley Hanewich and Krueger were both walked. Freshman Kelsey Horton came in as a pinch runner for Hanewich before freshman Whitney Massey hit a single to left field. Horton overran third base though and was tagged out trying to get back to the base to end the inning for the Badgers.

NU scored five more runs in the bottom of the fifth, making their lead 8-0 and ending the game.

Freshman Molly Spence went zero-for-two, snapping her 13-game hitting streak.
