Mt. SAC Relays Results | Gateway Classic Results
MADISON, Wis. -- A change of location did not seem to put a dent in a solid week of performances for the Wisconsin men’s track and field team.
After several days of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and California Invitational on the West Coast, Wisconsin also sent a number of competitors to the inaugural Gateway Classic hosted by SIU-Edwardsville.
Junior Luke Rucks represented the Badgers on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., setting an outdoor personal-best time of 1:50.20 to grab a fifth-place finish in the university section of the 800 meters.
At the Gateway Classic, four Badgers claimed titles in their respective events as the team put forth a strong effort.
Sophomore Adam Hexum claimed the title in the 110-meter hurdles after notching a time of 14.70 seconds.
Hexum was not the only victorious Badger on Saturday.
Junior Zach Beth cruised to a win in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:56.63. Beth’s performance was nearly seven seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Josh Flax also claimed the top finish in the long jump. The freshman recorded a personal-best leap of 22 feet, 9 inches.
Redshirt freshman Paul Annear also competed in the long jump, grabbing a third-place finish with a leap of 22-1.
Annear was not done, however. He won the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 47-3.
In the high jump, junior Pat Nichols finished runner-up after clearing 6-6 3/4.
Sophomore Grant Bughman placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, running a personal-best time of 53.86 in the process. Also competing in the event was Pat Plank. The sophomore finished right behind Bughman in fourth place and crossed the line in 54.37.
In the 200 meters, junior Andrew Milenkovski finished in sixth place with a time of 22.40.
Milenkovski also competed in the 400 meters, where he ran 50.14 seconds to earn a third-place finish.
The Badgers now head to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Relays from April 22-24.
