Madison Wis. - Topped with a third inning grand slam by freshman Molly Spence, the Badgers swept their doubleheader against South Dakota with a 10-2 five-inning victory at Goodman Diamond, Wednesday afternoon. Also nailing a two-RBI triple in the first inning and an RBI single in the second, Spence set a school record notching seven RBI on the game.

Spence nailed the grand slam over the right field wall to put the Badgers up 10-2 in the bottom of the third. The Badgers' last grand slam came from Alexis Garcia at Illinois-Chicago on April 3, 2007. Spence's blast marks the 13th grand slam in program history.

On the game, Spence went three-for-three, also scoring three runs.

The Badgers maintained the momentum from their first win against South Dakota, a 5-1 decision earlier on Wednesday, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first, all before the first out was recorded.

Senior Katie Soderberg led off with a bunt single, and Jennifer Kruger walked. Spence then tripled to deep right on a full count, scoring two runs and putting Wisconsin up 2-0. Shannel Blackshear then smacked a single to right center, driving Spence home for the Badgers' third run.

With two outs in the bottom of the second, the Badgers scored two more runs.

Krueger slap singled, and then stole her 21st base of the year, padding her new UW record of stolen bases in one season. Spence then singled up the middle, sending Krueger home and putting Wisconsin up 4-2. Blackshear then hit a RBI double, making it 5-2.

Wisconsin scored five more runs in the bottom of the third.

Senior Letty Olivarez was walked to start the inning and Abby Gregory came in as her pinch runner, stealing second. Kendall Grimm reached on an infield single, advancing Gregory to third, and Ashley Hanewich then walked, loading the bases for Dana Rasmussen.

Rasmussen was walked, sending Gregory home for the sixth Badger run. Two outs were recorded next as Grimm was picked off at third for the first Badger out and Katie Soderberg hit an infield fly to short. Krueger then hit her second infield single, loading the bases for Spence who nailed her grand slam.

Freshman Meghan Mcintosh and junior Kristyn Hansen combined to get the win. McIntosh pitched the first three innings, giving up two runs on three hits, while striking out four and walking three.

Hansen closed things out by pitching the last two innings, giving up just one hit and recording one strikeout.

Wisconsin's win write will re-air on Big Ten Network tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

The Badgers next travel to Champaign, Ill. to take on Illinois in a two-game series on April 24 at 3 p.m. (CT) and April 25 at 1 p.m. (CT).
