MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's hockey team posted its third shutout of the season Friday afternoon as the Badgers skated past No. 4/5 Boston University in a 3-0 win at the Kohl Center.
Sophomore Alex Rigsby bolstered her two-consecutive WCHA Defensive Player of the Week awards making 20 saves en route to her first shutout of the season.

"It seems when we're bending, Alex [Rigsby] is always there to hold us in there," head coach Mark Johnson said. "Each of the last seven games she has given us an opportunity to win those hockey games. We've found different ways to win them. The most important thing is that she seems to be comfortable. She seems to be confident and she has played seven really strong games."
Brittany Ammerman led the team offensively, netting the first two goals for Wisconsin, while Kelly Jaminski tallied the last Badger goal, while shorthanded, for her fourth goal of the year.
Brianna Decker extended her point streak after finding Brittney Ammerman in front of the net on her second goal to pick up the assist. The junior moves her streak to 19 games, having tallied 20 goals and 26 assists since Feb. 11, 2011.
Wisconsin set the pace right out of the gate, outshooting the Terriers 18-7 in the opening period. The Badgers were able to connect midway through the period when Madison Packer set up Brittany Ammerman for her second goal of the season.
The second period played out in similar fashion as UW extended its lead when Decker found Brittany Ammerman in front of the net to go up 2-0.
"I think it's when you get to play with different people, different things happen and it helps a little bit," Brittany Ammerman said. "Definitely [Brianna] Decker and [Madison] Packer made those great plays too so I have to thank them for that. They helped just as much as I did putting [the puck] into the net."
Jaminski tallied an insurance goal in the third period during a BU power play. She grabbed the loose puck and came down the left side, passing to Decker in front of the net. In the two-on-one set up, Decker dished the puck back to Jaminski who easily beat the sprawling BU goalie.
Wisconsin is now 8-1-0 on the season and Boston University moves to 5-2-1. The win was the sixth for the Badgers over a nationally-ranked team so far this season.
UW went 0-3 on the power play, but killed off two penalties and scored its second shorthanded goal of the season.
The Badgers return to the Kohl Center tomorrow afternoon to finish the weekend series against the Terriers. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.
