
Men's golf team enters Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio- Wisconsin men's golf will travel to Akron, Ohio, to compete in the Firestone Invitational on Oct. 10-11. The first two rounds will be played on Monday and the last round will be played on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,125-yard North Course at the Firestone Country Club.
Wisconsin is one of the three Big Ten schools at the tournament, joined by reigning champs Indiana and Nebraska. There will be 14 other universities there, including Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas State and host University of Akron. This will be the first time the Badgers have competed in the Firestone Invitational.
Anthony Aicher is leading Wisconsin in its fall season with an average of 74.37 in eight rounds. Aicher tied for 11th at the Weibring Intercollegiate with an 8-over-par 221. Rob Jacobsen finished three strokes behind Aicher with a 224 to tie for 23rd place. The Badgers had their best team 18-hole round with a 297 in the final round.
Joining Aicher on the travel team this week is Brady Keegan, Sam Frank, Stephane Dubois and Chris Meyer. It will be Dubois' first competition this year after leading the Badgers as a freshman with a 74.07 stroke average, the third best average ever recorded by a freshman at UW. Jacobsen had made the travel squad but is not able to play this week because of a health issue.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 on Monday. Live scoring is available on golfstat.com.
