Ann Arbor, Mich. -- The Wisconsin wrestling team (5-2) dropped its first Big Ten dual of the season to No. 8 Michigan by a 21-12 score in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Badgers claimed four individual victories in the matchup, including an upset by redshirt junior Tom Kelliher over No. 12 Zac Stevens at 133 lbs.

After being tied 12-12 entering the 174 lbs. match, the Wolverines won the final four bouts of the afternoon to claim the victory.
The dual began at 125 lbs. where freshman Austin Hietpas lost to Grant Pizzo by a 9-1 major decision. The win gave Michigan a 4-0 lead to start the competition. Hietpas has a 1-6 record this season at both 125 and 133 lbs.
Kelliher then upset No. 12 Zac Stevens by an 8-4 decision at 133 lbs. to narrow the Wolverine lead to 4-3. Kelliher holds an 8-4 record so far this year.
Michigan scored its second major decision of the day at 141 lbs. where No. 4 Kellen Russell defeated redshirt freshman Thomas Glenn, 10-12. The win extended the Wolverine's lead to 8-3.
At 149 lbs., No. 9 redshirt junior Cole Schmitt continued his undefeated streak with a 5-3 decision against Mike Hillock. Schmitt's victory closed the Michigan lead to 8-6.
Redshirt sophomore Shawn Perry then defeated Brandon Zeerip by a 5-2 decision at 157 lbs, giving the Badgers a 9-8 lead, their first of the day.
UW notched its third-straight win of the dual when No. 17 senior Ben Jordan defeated No. 19 Dan Yates by an 8-3 decision at 165 lbs to improve to 11-3 on the season.
The Wolverines tied the dual at 12 all when No. 6 Justin Zeerip defeated redshirt freshman Frank Cousins by a 10-2 decision at 174 lbs. Zeerip handed Cousins his fifth loss of the year.
At 184 lbs., Hunter Collins defeated redshirt freshman Timmy McCall by a 4-3 decision and extended the Michigan lead to 15-12. McCall now has a 6-4 record on the season.
Redshirt sophomore Jackson Hein nearly tied the dual again, but fell to Max Huntley by a 4-2 sudden victory decision at 197 lbs. Huntley's victory was just Hein's second loss of the year.
Wisconsin needed a pin to tie the dual at 18 all, but No. 18 Ben Apland held off redshirt sophomore Cole Tobin with an 8-4 decision to give the Wolverines a 21-12 dual victory. Tobin's record on the season is now 5-2.
The Badgers return to the mat on Dec. 29-30 at the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill., and host their first home dual of the season on Jan. 8 against Northwestern at 2 p.m.
