MADISON, Wis.-- Senior Ben Jordan led the Wisconsin wrestling team with a fifth place title at 165 lbs. at the 30th annual Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. The Badgers had four wrestlers still in contention for third place to start the day, but only Jordan got past the first round of consolation matches.

Ohio State won the invite, scoring 129 points. They were followed by Michigan (116 points) and Wyoming (104.5 points).

Jordan took the fifth place title at 165 lbs. after defeating Drexel’s Joe Booth by a 5-0 decision, and going 3-1 on Saturday. He won his first match on the second day of competition with a 3-1 decision over Nebraska-Kearney’s Joe Wilson at 165 lbs. Jordan then advanced to the next round, defeating Michigan’s Dan Yates by an 8-3 decision. He was then knocked down to the fifth place match after losing to Northern Colorado’s Stephen Burka by a 13-7 decision.

Redshirt junior Tom Kelliher was eliminated from competition in the consolation round of 12 at 133 lbs. after losing by pin to Harvard’s Steven Keith at 2:11. Kelliher leaves the Cliff Keen Invitational with a 3-2 record and now has a 7-4 record on the season.

Redshirt freshman Frank Cousins lost in the consolation round of 12 at 174 lbs. to Indiana’s Ryan Leblanc by a 12-1 major decision. Cousins ends his first-ever Cliff Keen Invitational with a 2-2 record.

Redshirt freshman Timmy McCall was also eliminated in the consolation round of 12, falling to Brown’s Ophir Bernstein by a 16-7 major decision at 184 lbs. McCall’s 2011-12 record improves to 6-3 after a 1-2 showing at the Cliff Keen.

The Badgers will open the Big Ten season against No. 9 Michigan on Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
