LAWRENCE, Kan. -- A dominating performance in the paint by Kansas, combined with poor shooting by the Badgers, created a lopsided outcome at the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan., Thursday night as the Wisconsin women's basketball team suffered a 73-44 loss to the Jayhawks in the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge game.

"We didn't play well tonight, we couldn't hit shots," Wisconsin head coach Bobbie Kelsey said. "We had some good looks, just couldn't knock them down."
The loss bumps UW down to 4-6 on the season, while Kansas improves to 8-1.
The Jayhawks jumped out to an 8-2 lead before back-to-back 3-pointers by Wisconsin tied the game, 8-8, at 14:52.
Kansas responded with a 6-0 run to take a 14-8 lead at 11:49, but the Badgers once again fought back to bring the score within two, 15-13, on a pair of free throws by Lindsay Smith a minute later.
That would prove to be as close as Wisconsin would come, as Kansas went on a 12-0 run to go ahead by 14 points just under the seven-minute mark.
The Jayhawks kept their foot on the gas in the final minutes of play in the first half to take a 42-23 lead into the locker room.
Kansas continued its dominating play in the second half, surging to a 26-point lead, 50-24, at 13:51. KU extended its lead to 30, three times, before ending the game with a 73-44 victory.
The Badgers scored a season-low 44 points on a season-low 15 field goals made and shot a season-low 28.3 percent (15-of-53) from the field. Over half of UW's field goals came from beyond the arc, as the Badgers were 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) from 3-point range. Wisconsin was 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line, also marking a season low free throws made and attempted.
Kansas went 27-of-61 (44.3 percent) from the field, recording 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) from beyond the arc. The Jayhawks were 15-of-20 (75.0 percent) from the charity stripe, marking a UW opponent season-high free throw attempts.
Wisconsin turned the ball over 16 times, while Kansas had just six giveaways. For the second-consecutive game, Wisconsin was outrebounded, 41-35, and 30 of KU's points came from in the paint.
Four Kansas players finished the game in double-digits, including a double-double by Aishah Sutherland (12 points, 16 rebounds). Wisconsin was led by Morgan Paige's 14 points, while Taylor Wurtz chipped in 12. Anya Covington led the Badgers with nine rebounds and Jade Davis recorded four assists.
Wisconsin returns home to the Kohl Center on Sunday to host Drake at 2 p.m. It is Wisconsin's last game before a 12-day break for final exams.
