UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The No. 16 Wisconsin wrestling team fell to No. 3 Penn State in its second-to-last dual of the 2010-11 regular season. The Nittany Lions defeated the Badgers, 30-12, Friday night at Rec Hall.

Despite slating back-to-back pins by No. 3 Travis Rutt (184 lbs.) and No. 2 Trevor Brandvold (197 lbs.), PSU opened the dual with seven-straight wins, leaving the dual out of reach for the Badgers entering the last three bouts. The pins gave Rutt his 25th victory of the season and Brandvold his 10th to keep him undefeated.
No. 3 redshirt sophomore Tyler Graff lost just his second bout of the year at 133 lbs. His record now stands at 24-2.
At 125 lbs., redshirt sophomore Tom Kelliher fell to No. 11 Brad Pataky, 10-5, at 125 lbs. After Pataky went up 10-0, Kelliher collected a reversal, two nearfall points and riding time. The decision gave the Nittany Lions a 3-0 lead in the dual.
Graff then faced No. 8 Andrew Long at 133 lbs. Graff took the lead first with a takedown, but entered the second period down 5-3. Long continued to pack on points, defeating Graff 12-5. Graff scored one takedown and two escapes, putting Penn State on top, 6-0. The loss snapped Graff's 17-match winning streak.
The Nitany Lions earned its third-straight win with a pin at 3:52 by No. 7 Andrew Alton over sophomore Shane McQuade at 141 lbs. McQuade scored three escapes prior to the fall, which extended Penn State's lead to 12-0.
No. 3 Frank Molinaro then furthered the Nittany Lion lead to 16-0 with a major decision over No. 10 Cole Schmitt at 149 lbs. The redshirt sophomore fell to Molinaro, 9-1.
In Penn State's fifth-consecutive victory, redshirt freshman Kalvin York fell to No. 3 David Taylor at 157 lbs. York lost by a 18-2 tech fall at 4:57. With nearfall points, the win gave the Nittany Lions a 21-0 lead.
PSU extended its lead to 24-0 with a 7-3 victory at 165 lbs. by James Vollrath over Shawn Perry, who earned three escapes in the bout.
At 174 lbs. redshirt sophomore No. 14 Ben Jordan took on No. 2 Ed Ruth. Despite getting the first takedown, Jordan lost to Ruth by an 8-5 decision. Jordan scored three escapes following the takedown. Ruth's win extended Penn State's lead to 27-0.
Wisconsin grabbed its first win of the night at 184 lbs. where Rutt pinned No. 17 Quentin Wright at 4:41. Prior to the win, Quentin had Rutt on his stomach and nearly turned him for a pin, but Rutt reversed him and earned the fall. Rutt's victory earned Wisconsin six points.
Brandvold then won UW's second-straight fall, pinning Nick Ruggear at 0:42. Brandvold's pin was not enough, bringing the Badgers within 15 with one match to go.
No. 6 Cameron Wade then defeated No. 10 Eric Bugenhagen by a 5-2 decision at heavyweight to win the dual, 30-12.
The Badgers compete in their final dual of the season on Sunday against Michigan State at 1 p.m. in East Lansing, Mich.
