MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin's bats came alive in a five-run, fourth inning lifting the team to its ninth comeback win of the season and giving the Badgers a victory in their home opener. The team's 9-4 win over Loyola at Goodman Diamond came in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday night.

Wisconsin (16-11, 0-2 Big Ten) fell behind 4-2 after the top of the fourth to the Ramblers (11-10, 3-0 Horizon), but UW exploded for five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a lead it would not relinquish.

 Fast Facts
• Krueger goes 4-4 with 3 runs scored
• Powell and Blackshear both homer in home opening-win
• McIntosh goes the distance to get the win

Trailing 4-2, Maggie Strange got the rally started with a one-out, bunt single. Stephanie Peace then laced her second triple of the season to left center to bring home Strange.

Jennifer Krueger, who tied career highs on the day with four hits and three runs, reached on an infield single and stole second. With the steal, Wisconsin extended its streak to 10 games with a swipe, setting a school record.

Krueger's 22nd stolen base of the season proved beneficial as the throw from catcher Jenna Grim sailed in to center field, letting Peace come home with the tying run and advancing Krueger to third. The throwing error proved costly to the Ramblers as Whitney Massey put down a squeeze bunt to score Krueger.

Loyola intentionally walked Karla Powell, who had homered earlier in the third inning, but the plan backfired as Shannel Blackshear followed with her fourth home run of the season. The two-run shot carried over the fence in left field to make it 7-4.

Wisconsin tacked on two more runs in the sixth to get to the final margin.

Krueger got her fourth hit of the game and took second on a throwing error before coming home on an RBI single from Massey. Two outs later, Michelle Mueller hit a single up the middle to bring in Massey.

Meghan McIntosh went the distance to get the win for Wisconsin and improve to 6-7. Only two of her four runs surrendered were earned as she struck out six batters.

A pair of errors in the first inning cost the Badgers as the Ramblers put up two early runs.

With one out, Bridget Lally grounded a ball to first baseman Mueller but the ball popped in and out of her glove to let Lally reach. After a lineout by Lauren Moore, Lally stole second while Jacqueline Grim batted. Grim was then hit by a pitch and both runners moved up on a passed ball. Lauren Arceneaux then singled to left field to bring in Lally. Left fielder Kendall Grimm bobbled the ball which enabled Grim to score the second run.

Wisconsin cut the lead in half by scoring once in the bottom of the inning.

The first three batters all reached to load the bases and, after two outs, Grimm drew a walk to bring in the run.

Lally hit a solo home run in the top of the third for Loyola, but Powell responded with a home run of her own in the bottom of the frame. Her team-leading seventh home run of the year was a solo blast to left center.

The Ramblers extended their lead to 4-2 after the top of the fourth, but UW responded with its big inning in the bottom of the fourth.
