• Final Stats

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 66 Wisconsin women's tennis team (8-3) fell to No. 36 Nebraska (9-1), 6-1 in its second match of the weekend on Saturday. The Badgers won two matches overall, including No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles.

Nebraska earned the doubles point to start the dual, capturing two of the three doubles matches. 

The No. 76th-ranked duo of Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein defeated redshirt junior Alaina Trgovich and freshman Nicky Stracar, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. 

The Huskers’ second victory came at No. 2 doubles where Jennifer Holmberg and Janine Weinreich claimed victory over Angela Chupa and Jenny Hois, 7-6 (2), 6-2. 

At No. 3 doubles, UW won its first match with a 9-7 win by senior Jessica Seyferth and sophomore Hannah Berner sophomore Hannah Berner against Patricia Veresova and Maike Zeppernick.

The Badgers won just one singles match against the Huskers at No. 4 singles where Berner defeated Weinreich in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

Starcar put up a fight against Geibert at No. 1 singles, but as knocked off, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. 

At No. 2 singles, Hois suffered just her second loss of the season to Veresova, 7-6 (2), 6-2. 

Weinstein's 6-7 (0), 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Trgovich gave the redshirt junior her first loss at No. 3 singles this season. 

Holmberg gave Nebraska another victory with her 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Seyferth at No. 5 singles. 

Junior Anglea Chupa also had a close match at No. 6 singles, but fell to Zeppernick in straight sets, 7-6 (1), 6-4. 

Wisconsin will take the weekend off and then travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on College of Charleston and North Carolina State on March 18-19.
