MADISON, Wis. – The accolades continue to roll in for Wisconsin senior Jennifer Krueger.
After already being named Big Ten Player of the Week and third-team All-Big Ten earlier in the week, Krueger was named 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday. Krueger was named to the second team in the Great Lakes Region.
It’s the second season in a row that the Badgers have had a player named to the Great Lakes Region second team after Molly Spence was recognized in 2010.
Starting all 53 games in center field, Krueger was an offensive force for the Badgers this season as she led the team in several offensive categories.
The Portage, Wis., native set UW single-season records for both stolen bases with 43 and hits with 64. Krueger, who finished her career with a UW record 98 stolen bases, tallied more stolen bases in 2011 than any other player has recorded in their entire Wisconsin career.
Krueger also led Wisconsin in batting average as she hit at a .379 clip, the third-best mark in school history. In addition, her team-best on-base percentage of .436 ranks seventh all-time and her run total of 38 tied for third-most at UW.
For her career, Krueger recorded the third-highest batting average in school history at .322 and her on-base percentage of .394 ranked fifth-best. Krueger also ranks third all-time in triples (7), fifth in runs (97) and walks (56) and sixth in hits (166).
On Monday, Krueger became just the third player in Wisconsin history to earn multiple Big Ten Player of the Week honors, joining Erin Barnharst and Andrea Kirchberg. Before Krueger, Barnharst was the last UW player to earn the accolades twice in the same season, doing so in 2003.
On Wednesday, Krueger was named third-team All-Big Ten, becoming the third Badger ever to be a three-time All-Big Ten honoree after being placed on the third team in both 2009 and 2010.
