MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin softball team held a lead through five innings, but two defensive miscues in the sixth inning cost the Badgers in a 4-2 loss to Green Bay in game one of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Goodman Diamond.
The Phoenix (21-21, 7-13 Horizon League) scored three unearned runs off two Wisconsin (26-22, 6-10 Big Ten) errors in the sixth to get the victory.

The Badgers struck first, scoring a run in the first inning.
Jennifer Krueger led off and reached on an error by Phoenix third baseman Danielle Peerenboom. After stealing second and third, Krueger came in to score on a bunt single by Shannel Blackshear.
Wisconsin had a chance to do more damage as Karla Powell doubled to left field and Whitney Massey drew a two-out walk to fill the bases. Michelle Mueller fouled out to first base, however, for the final out.
Green Bay tied the game thanks to a two-out rally in the third inning.
After getting a pop out and a ground out to start the inning, UW starter Cassandra Darrah gave up a two-out double to Amanda Omahen. Sara Junion then singled back up the middle to plate Omahen and tie the game.
The Badgers came right back though in the next inning with a two-out rally of their own.
With two outs, Mueller singled to the hole at shortstop and then stole second. Kendall Grimm followed by with a sinking liner to right field. Phoenix right fielder Amanda Pozolinski ran in and tried to make a diving catch but the ball popped out of her glove. Mueller scored from second and Grimm had herself an RBI double.
Wisconsin was unable to hold on to its 2-1 lead, though, in the top of the sixth.
Danielle Peerenboom singled to lead off the inning. After Darrah caught a popped up bunt for the first out, Katie Cooney grounded to second. Whitney Massey threw to second to try to force out Peerenboom, but her throw hit the runner. A fielding error by Stephanie Peace at shortstop allowed the bases to become full with still just one out in the inning.
Peace then fielded a chopper from Taylor Woepse and came home to try to force out Peerenboom, but her throw was not in time. The game was tied and the bases remained full, but the Phoenix took the lead as Jessica Hrncar singled through the left side. A fielder's choice brought home the fourth run, but UW avoided further damage thanks to a groundout to second.
Darrah suffered the loss for the Badgers, falling to 14-9 on the season. She gave up four runs while throwing her team-leading 17th complete game, but only one of those runs was earned. Darrah struck out three and walked just one while giving up six hits.
