Wisconsin lightweights mark top 5 finish in Boston

Oct. 19, 2014

BOSTON - The Wisconsin women's lightweight team participated in their third race of fall, the Head of the Charles. The women competed in one event on Sunday, which was the lightweight eight.

The lightweights were up against some tough competition, but pulled through with a top 5 finish. With a final time of 17:25.15 the Badgers were just under 41 seconds behind the first place finisher, Minerva.

The Badgers have always been close finishers with strong opponents at Head of the Charles and are happy to consistently place within the top crews. Minerva is an international club from England, meaning Wisconsin was less than 30 seconds behind the fastest domestic crew. This sets them up to compete well for the rest of the 2014-15 season.

The next regatta for the lightweights will be at Porter Boathouse in Madison on October 25-26, after which they will head to New Jersey for the Collegiate Small Boat Challenge in the final race of fall season.
