Wisconsin vs. Nebraska Postgame Notes
Camp Randall Stadium - Madison, Wis.
Nov. 15, 2014
TEAM NOTES
• Wisconsin's captains today were seniors Sam Arneson, Rob Havenstein and Derek Landisch and junior Michael Caputo. They were joined by honorary captain Derek Engler.
• Today's game time temperature of 26 degrees makes it the coldest game at Camp Randall since Nov. 21, 1964. The Badgers defeated Minnesota, 14-7, with a game time temp of 11 degrees that day. It was also the 10th-coldest game in which Wisconsin has participated.
• After trailing 17-3, UW scored 56 consecutive points.
• Wisconsin ran for 581 yards, its second 500-yard rushing game of the season and seventh in school history. The Badgers' rush total was the most Nebraska has ever allowed, as well.
• Wisconsin's 627 total yards are the eighth most all-time and second-most this season, trailing only the Bowling Green game on Sept. 20 in which the Badgers gained a program-record 756 total yards.
• The Badgers held Nebraska to 180 yards of total offense--the third time this season UW has held an opponent under 200 offensive yards. (Western Illinois, Maryland)
• UW entered the game leading the nation allowing 251.1 yards per game and lowered it's average to 244.0.
• Wisconsin allowed just 62 yards passing--the second time this season the Badgers have held an opponent to 63 yards or less in the air (63 vs. Rutgers).
• The Badgers also limited Nebraska to 160 yards rushing and 2.6 yards per carry. The Huskers entered the game second in the Big Ten and ninth in the nation averaging 280.7 yards per game on the ground.
• The Badgers racked up 4.0 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss, giving them, 32.0 sacks and 71.0 TFLs through 10 games this season. Last year, UW posted 26.0 sacks and 64.0 tackles for loss in 13 games.
• UW's 32.0 sacks on the season is already their highest single-season total since 2009 when the team racked up 37.0.
• Wisconsin forced five turnovers (4 fumbles, 1 interception), which is the team's most since creating seven turnovers against Northwestern on Nov. 27, 2010.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Junior RB Melvin Gordon set a school, Big Ten and FBS record with 408 rushing yards on 25 carries (16.3 ypc.). The NCAA single-game record was 406 rushing yards by LaDainian Tomlinson (TCU) vs. UTEP, Nov. 20, 1999. The Big Ten record was 377 set by Indiana's Anthony Thompson at Wisconsin on Nov. 11, 1989.
• Gordon now has 1,909 rushing yards on the season, fourth-best total in school history. He is averaging 190.9 yards per game this season and 8.56 yards per carry.
• It was Gordon's fourth 200-yard rushing game this season and fifth of his career. Ron Dayne, who had five 200-yard rushing games in both 1996 and 1999, is the only other Badger to run for at least 200 yards in a game four times in one season.
• Gordon rushed for at least 100 yards for the eighth straight game and the ninth time in 10 games this season. His 19 career 100-yard games ties him with Brent Moss for the fifth-most in UW history.
• Gordon's 189 rushing yards in the second quarter broke the Wisconsin record for rushing yards in a quarter of 170 set by Ron Dayne vs. San Jose State on Sept. 13, 1997. Gordon also had 170 yards in the third quarter.
• Gordon had a 42-yard run in the first quarter, a 62-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, a 44-yard run in the second quarter and a 43-yard run in the third quarter. He now had 14 runs this season of at least 40 yards and 24 in his career. Gordon has four runs this season of at least 60 yards and 11 in his career. Wisconsin leads the country with 20 runs of 40+ yards this season.
• Gordon has scored at least two touchdowns in seven of the last eight games and with his four TDs today, now has 25 on the season. That is the second-best single-season total in school history, trailing only Montee Ball (39 in 2011).
• After his five-yard touchdown pass to Sam Arneson in the second quarter, junior QB Joel Stave now has 34 career TD passes. That puts him in fifth place on Wisconsin's all-time list.
• Arneson has four touchdown receptions this season and eight in his career.
• Sophomore RB Dare Ogunbowale scored his first-career touchdown on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter. He finished with 62 yards on 10 carries.
• Senior DL Warren Herring forced his first career fumble, which was recovered by Joe Schobert, the first of his career. That set up Corey Clement's 17-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 17-17.
• Senior S Peniel Jean recorded the second interception of his career and his second this season on Nebraska's first drive of the second half. Jean also recovered a fumble on Nebraska's second possession, his first-career fumble recovery.
• Sophomore LB Vince Biegel forced the second fumble of his career and now has two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries this season.
• Freshman K Rafael Gaglianone's 26-yard field goal in the first quarter was his eighth made field goal in a row. He is 13-of-16 (.813) on the season.
• Fifth-year ILB Marcus Trotter matched his career high with 12 tackles, including one sack, one tackle for loss and his second-career fumble recovery.

• Sophomore OLB Vince Biegel had five tackles--two for loss--and his second-career forced fumble.
• Freshman safety Austin Hudson picked up his first-career forced fumble.
• Sophomore nose guard Arthur Goldberg registered a half sack and half tackle for loss, which were both firsts.
