GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Despite playing to a tie at halftime, second-half woes plagued the Wisconsin women's basketball team, which was defeated 53-43 by Green Bay on Saturday night.
The Badgers were unable to overcome their 25 turnovers, which ultimately translated into 23 points for Green Bay. The Phoenix halted what was a two-game winning streak for the Badgers, who were out scored 31-21 in the second half by Green Bay.

"Some of our turnovers were just the result of poor decision making," Wisconsin head coach Bobbie Kelsey said. "It doesn't help when you're not taking care of the ball. I'll give them credit though, they're a tough team and they are going to make you make some mistakes."
The Badgers went on an early unanswered 10-0 run -- six points coming from freshman Cayla McMorris alone -- that gave the Badgers a 12-4 lead with 11:47 left in the first half.
The hot hand of Green Bay's Megan Lukan helped the Phoenix counter with a 12-2 run of their own, over which Lukan accounted for eight of the points.
The Phoenix led 16-14 until junior Tessa Cichy hit an open jumper with just over six minutes left in the half to half Green Bay's momentum. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the way, ending the first half tied up at 22 points each.
Cichy led the Badgers at the break with seven points and six rebounds. UW outshot UWGB in the first half, 45.5 percent to 33.3 percent, but was just 1-for-7 from 3-point range.
While Wisconsin out-rebounded Green Bay, 19-12, the Badgers turned the ball over 11 times in the first half and that resulted in 12 of the Phoenix's points.
UW's leading scorer entering the night, Nicole Bauman scored her first points of the game to open the second half for the Badgers with an easy 3-pointer. The junior and fellow classmate Dakota
Whyte each ended in double figures, adding 10 points.
Green Bay went on a 9-0 run, however, fueled by a layup and 3-pointer from Mehryn Kraker to put the team up 31-25 with 16:25 left to play. Their largest lead of the game, it was one the Phoenix would not relinquish.
The Badgers would come within one points (40-39) after two made jumpers from Whyte powered the Badger offense, but it was quickly lost as the
Phoenix responded with a 6-0 run and went up 48-39 with 2:27 to go.
Wisconsin continued to fight, as Brown sent the ball out wide to Bauman who sunk the shot from the right side of the arc and pulled the Badgers within five (48-43) with 49 seconds remaining.
Green Bay finished things off at the free throw line, however.
Wisconsin out-rebounded Green Bay, 42-31. Brown led the Badgers with a season-high 11 boards.
"We could've played a lot better and we didn't," Kelsey added. "The rebounding was good. As a coach, you want to keep improving instead of making the same mistakes over and over again. Our ball handling is not showing itself.
"Our passing and decision making needs to come into play. We have to be able to pass really quickly and make better decisions."
The Badgers ended the contest shooting 34.8 percent from the field and a season-low 14.3 percent from 3-point range. UW did hold Green Bay to its lowest 3-point shooting of the season at 5.3 percent (1-19).
Wisconsin breaks for a week before resuming action against Oral Roberts at the UW Field House on Dec. 20.
