| TOUGH DEFENSE In its last two games, UW has held opponents to 52.5 points and 31.5 rebounds per game and a 34.7 field goal percentage.    Wisconsin held Oral Roberts to just 52 points, the second-fewest points UW has allowed this season. The Golden Eagles shot just 20-of-56 (35.7 percent) from the field while pulling down an opponent season-low 30 rebounds.    The Badgers stopped Michigan's offense as the Wolverines scored just 53 points, 17 points below their season average of 70.5 points per game, and its second-lowest point total of the year. U-M shot a season-low 33.9 percent (21-of-62) from the field.       WINNING THREE OF ITS LAST FOUR Wisconsin has won two straight games for the second time this season and four of its last five games.    Two games is UW's longest winning streak since claiming three straight at the start of the 2013-14 season.  | Game Notes Complete women's basketball game notes in printable PDF form | | 3-POINT SHOOTING IMPROVES  After two straight games struggling from 3-point range, the Badgers have shot better than 50 percent from deep the last two games.    UW shot 50 percent (3-of-6) from deep against Oral Roberts on Dec. 20, marking season lows for makes and attempts.    Wisconsin shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from behind the arc against Michigan on Sunday with junior Nicole Bauman leading the team at 4-of-7.    In the previous two games, the Badgers shot 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from deep at Florida on Dec. 10 while shooting a season-low 14.3 percent (3-of-21) at Green Bay on Dec. 13.    UW has improved to fifth in the Big Ten, shooting 35.3 percent from 3-point range. LACK OF FOULS The Badgers are averaging just 10.5 fouls per game over the last two games. Wisconsin finished with a season-low nine fouls against Oral Roberts on Dec. 20 and just 12 founds against Michigan on Sunday.    The lack of fouls has cut down on opponent free throws as well. The Golden Eagles made just 6-of-9 shots (66.7 percent) from the free throw line, tying an opponent season low for attempts and the second-lowest makes by a foe this year.    The Wolverines were 7-of-13 in free throws for 63.6 percent. STOPPING THE LONG BALL UW ranks fourth in the Big Ten, allowing opponents to shoot just 27 percent (47-of-174) from 3-point range.    Three foes (Vanderbilt, Marquette and Green Bay) have shot below 20 percent while seven have been below 30 percent. Only four opponents (Drake, East Carolina, Oral Roberts and Michigan) have shot better than 30 percent from deep. REBOUNDING IMPROVING Wisconsin has pulled down nearly 40-or-more rebounds in its last four games to up its season average to 35.8 boards per game.    UW had its largest rebounding advantage of the season at Green Bay on Dec. 13. The Badgers outrebounded the Phoenix 42-31 (+11), including a career-high 11 rebounds from senior AnnMarie Brown. Wisconsin also outrebounded Oral Roberts 39-30 on Dec. 20.    Fifth-year senior Cassie Rochel leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per game, recording double figures in two games. Senior Jacki Gulczynski adds 4.5 rebounds per game. All eight players who average at least 12 minutes per game, average 2.4-or-more rebounds per game.    UW has outrebounded four opponents this season as foes average 36.8 rebounds per game. HITTING FROM THE LINE UW has shot better than 85 percent from the free throw line its last two games.    The Badgers shot a season-best 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the free throw line against Oral Roberts on Dec. 20.    Wisconsin hit 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the line against the Wolverines.    Over its last six games, UW is shooting 76.3 percent from the line, including four games over 80 percent. Wisconsin hit just 62.7 percent through the first five games of the year.    UW is shooting 69.9 percent from the line this season, improving to seventh among all Big Ten teams. SCORERS IN DOUBLE DIGITS UW has had at least two players score in double figures in all 10 games this season.    Junior Nicole Bauman leads the team with eight games in double figures, averaging a team-best 13.3 points per game. Junior Dakota Whyte has double-figure scoring in seven games to chip in 9.5 points per game. Freshman Cayla McMorris ranks third with 8.1 points per game while senior Jacki Gulczynski adds 7.6 points per game. DISHING IT OUT Wisconsin has dished out 15-or-more assists in seven games this season, including the last two games, to up its season average to 15 assists per game. UW dished off just 12.2 assists per game in 2013-14. Opponents are averaging 11.1 assists per game this year.    Junior Nicole Bauman has a team-best 4.3 assists per game as she notched a career-high nine assists against Illinois State on Nov. 16. The 5-10 guard has four-or-more assists in six games.    Junior Dakota Whyte adds 3.8 assists per game, setting a career high of seven assists in two games this season. UP AND DOWN WITH TURNOVERS Ball control has been an issue with the Badgers this season as they have three games with 20-or-more turnovers. UW had a season-high 28 giveaways at Miami on Dec. 4, 25 turnovers at Green Bay on Dec. 13 and 23 turnovers against East Carolina on Nov. 28, all losses.    Wisconsin also has three games with 10-or-fewer turnovers, including 10 against Oral Roberts on Dec. 20.    UW is averaging 17.6 turnovers per game, which ranks 13th in the Big Ten.    Opponents are averaging just 12 turnovers per game, ranking the Badgers 14th in the Big Ten with a minus 5.6 turnover margin. The Badgers manage just 5.3 steals per game while opponents average 9.6 steals per contest.    Opponents have taken advantage of UW turnovers, averaging 18 points per game off Badger giveaways. KEEP HER IN COACH Three players nearly 30-or-more minutes per game this season.    Senior Jacki Gulczynski leads the Badgers with 31.7 minutes played per game. Junior Nicole Bauman averages 31.6 minutes per game while junior Dakota Whyte is averaging 30 minutes per game. BADGERS IN THE BIG TEN Junior Nicole Bauman ranks 24th in the Big Ten with 13.3 points per game. She also ranks ninth in assists per game at 4.3 while junior Dakota Whyte is 13th with 3.8 dimes per game.    Bauman also ranks fourth in 3-point field goal percentage at .429 and tied for fifth in 3-pointers made at 2.2. She is also ninth with her 1.7 assist/turnover ratio.    Fifth-year senior Cassie Rochel ranks ninth with 1.8 blocks per game and 20th with 6.1 rebounds per game.    Wisconsin ranks fourth in the conference in 3-point defense at .270 and fourth in rebounding defense at 36.5. The Badgers also rank fifth in the Big Ten 3-point field goal percentage (.353), sixth in field goal percentage (.438), sixth in blocks per game (4.9), and seventh in free throw percentage (.699). CICHY SCORES Junior Tessa Cichy tied her career high with 14 points and added a career-high five assists against Michigan on Sunday. The 6-0 guard was 6-of-14 from the field, which ties her career highs for field goal makes and attempts.    Since joining the starting lineup at Miami on Dec. 4, the 5-11 guard is averaging 9.7 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field over the last six games. She also adds 4.0 rebounds per game and has dished off 15 assists.    On the year, Cichy is averaging season bests of 7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. BAUMAN'S BACK After missing two games (Vanderbilt and Drake) with an ankle injury, junior Nicole Bauman has returned to the Badger starting lineup.    The 5-10 guard has scored in double figures in the last seven games, averaging 14.3 points per game over the stretch.    On the season, Bauman leads the team with 13.3 points per game. She has a team-best 4.3 assists per game, dishing off a career-high nine assists against Illinois State on Nov. 16. She also adds 1.1 steals per game.    Bauman leads the team with 21 made treys this season while shooting 42.9 percent from behind the arc. ROCHEL RACKS UP DOUBLE-DOUBLES Senior Cassie Rochel has recorded two double-doubles this season.    The 6-4 post had a season-high 14 points, scoring a field goal with five seconds left off an offensive rebound that sealed a 51-48 win at Florida on Dec. 10. She also added a season-high 14 rebounds against the Gators.    Rochel had 10 points and 11 rebounds against Oral Roberts on Dec. 20 for her seventh career double-double.    On the season, she is averaging 5.2 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game, which ranks 20th in the Big Ten. WHYTE IS BADGERS MOST IMPROVED Junior Dakota Whyte has to be considered the Badgers' most improved player this season.    The 5-8 point guard is recording season bests in nearly every statistical category.    Whyte is averaging a season-best 9.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. She is also shooting a season-best 74.2 percent from the free throw line while playing a season-best 30 minutes per game.
