MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin softball team took home two wins from their last home series of the fall, beating the Green Bay Phoenix 2-0 and 22-0.
In the first game, junior Chloe Miller blasted a third-inning hit to center, bringing in Kelly Welsh to get the Badgers on the board first, 1-0.
In the sixth inning, Stephanie Lombardo knocked an RBI single down the right side, bringing Kelsey Jenkins in to lift the Badgers' lead to 2-0.
Freshman Melanie Cross recorded nine putouts in the game, and Welsh picked up a game-high three hits.
Senior Taylor-Paige Stewart dominated in the circle for the Badgers, only allowing one hit, while striking out nine batters and keeping Green Bay to zero runs.
In game two, Wisconsin ran away from the Phoenix early, tallying nine runs in the first inning. Miller started the onslaught, batting in Kelsey Jenkins for the 1-0 lead.
Then, Ashley Van Zeeland struck a single that brought in Miller for a 2-0 Badger lead.
Lombardo took advantage of a passed ball, running home for Wisconsin's third score. Cross batted in another Badger run from Sam Arents, and then a Macy Oswald pinch hit carried in Taylor Berry and Van Zeeland for a 6-0 Badger advantage.
Jenkins knocked a double out to left field, allowing Brianna Flugaur and Cross to run home. Miller slammed an RBI single to bring Jenkins in for the last run of the inning, lifting the score to 9-0 with six hits after just one frame.
In the second inning, Lombardo and Van Zeeland both scored one run apiece to bring the lead to 11-0.

The scoreboard was lit up again in inning three, starting off with Jenkins coming in on a passed ball. Lombardo singled up the middle to bring home Miller and Welsh for a mark of 14-0.
Three batters later, Cross flied out to right field to send Lombardo in for another score. Gabby Scherle then pinch hit, batting in Van Zeeland on a fielder's choice. For an 18-0 lead, Welsh's RBI single sent Flugaur and Berry to home.
Lombardo singled to bring in Scherle, and an Arents' single sent home Welsh for a 20-0 UW lead. Van Zeeland then recorded her fourth RBI of the game, a double that sent Lombardo and Brooke Mann in for the final runs of the game for a Wisconsin lead of 22-0.
Wisconsin pitchers Kirsten Stevens and Angela Morrow combined for only three hits on the contest, while the Badger offense totaled 15 hits on four different Phoenix pitchers.
Through the day, UW freshmen tallied 50 percent of the team's total hits. Lombardo notched a team-high five hits, while Welsh added four hits and Cross added two for a combined total of 11 hits in both games.
