MADISON, Wis. – In its final road game of the regular season, the Wisconsin men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Indiana at Jerry Yeagley Field on Saturday night.
The Badgers (4-10-3, 1-3-3 Big Ten) were unbeaten in four of their last five road games entering the contest, but the Hoosiers (10-4-2, 3-3-1) proved too much on their home field. Indiana outshot Wisconsin by a 17-5 advantage, including seven shots on goal to just one by the Badgers.
The game's lone goal came from Austin Panchot, who scored his first goal of the season and gave Indiana a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. After a cross was sent into the box by Grant Lillard, Tanner Thompson headed the ball over to Panchot, who then tapped it in past UW goalkeeper
Adrian Remeniuk for the score.
Remeniuk faced 16 shots and finished with five saves for the Badgers, but allowed the lone goal that proved to be the difference.
Christopher Mueller paced the Badgers with two shots, including UW's only shot on goal of the game.
Mike Catalano,
Matej Radonic and
Mark Segbers tallied one shot apiece.
Wisconsin returns home for its regular season finale against Northwestern on Nov. 4. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. (CT) at the McClimon Complex.
