PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - UW senior, Lauren Chypyha, suffered her first loss of the season in the third round of the pre-qualifying bracket of the ITA All-American Championship. The loss came at the hands of Luisa Stefani of Pepperdine, 6-3, 6-3. Chypyha bested last year's ITA effort by two rounds.
Despite the early loss, head coach Tina Samara has a positive outlook on the experience and on moving forward in the season for Chypyha.
"Today we unfortunately came up short against a very talented and experienced player," said Samara. "Lauren had a very good tournament in arguably the toughest bracket in the draw. As much as I would have loved to see her continue, I know these matches will help her reach the goals she has for her senior year."
Next up for Chypyha and the Badgers is the Beach Tennis Tournament in Long Beach, California, on Friday, October 9, 2015.
