Wilmette, Ill. — The Wisconsin women's golf team swapped spots with Virginia Tech in the third round of the 54-hole Windy City Collegiate Championship, Tuesday, at Westmoreland Country Club, as the Badgers finished 14th at a 30-over 295-304-295=894.
Three teams were tied atop the leaderboard, as host Northwestern (284-280-288=852), Arizona (291-280-281=852) and Georgia (284-278-290=852) all finished at 12-under.
Arizona State (291-282-280=853) and USC (283-283-290=856) rounded out the top five at 11-under and 8-under, respectively.
Michelle Cheung recorded the best 54-hole score of her career, as she finished at an even 70-75-71=216. She placed tied for 25th.
Brooke Ferrell (73-71-73=217) was not far behind Cheung in a tie for 28th. The junior was 1-over on Tuesday to give her a three-round total of 217, which was a new season-low.
Next for UW was Gabby Curtis, who shot a 10-over 76-77-73=226. She finished tied for 61st.
Becky Klongland (76-81-79=236) and Jessica Reinecke (77-82-78=237) were within a shot of one another at 20-over and 21-over, respectively. Klongland, who picked up a new 54-hole season-low, was 78th, while Reinecke tied for 79th.
The Badgers will be off for a week before competing in the Cardinal Cup, Oct. 19-20, in Louisville, Ky., at University of Louisville Golf Course.
