Riley Dearring to explore transfer options

Redshirt sophomore guard has chosen to leave program
MADISON, Wis. – Redshirt sophomore guard Riley Dearring has decided to leave the Wisconsin men's basketball program and has been granted his release to explore transfer options, as announced by head coach Bo Ryan on Monday.
"I am truly grateful to the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity, but I feel it's best for me if I continue my career elsewhere," Dearring said in a post on his Twitter account. "I want to thank all my current and former teammates for all the great memories! I want to thank all the fans for their support. I will cherish every second I was able to spend here but I need to move forward. I wish the program the best of luck in the future!"
A native of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Dearring spent two and a half seasons with the UW program. He has played in 18 games, while serving on the scout team for back-to-back Final Four appearances. Dearring was a Minnesota Mr. Basketball finalist in 2013 after he averaged 19.2 points to lead Minnetonka to a 20-5 record and a second-place finish in the Lake Conference.
