BADGERS OPEN BIG TEN SEASON
Wisconsin (4-6) opens the Big Ten Conference season on Thursday when it hosts Indiana (7-3) at 2 p.m. in the Kohl Center.
    The Badgers are 13-19 all-time in Big Ten openers, including a 9-8 mark at home. UW downed Michigan 63-53 in Madison on Dec. 28, 2014. Head coach Bobbie Kelsey is 2-2 in Big Ten openers.

FASTBREAK FACTS
Wisconsin will have not played in 15 days, tying for the longest break by an NCAA women's team this season. According to a poll done by David Cohen at Louisiana-Monroe, the Badgers and Southeastern Louisiana both have the longest time between games. Towson is next at 13 days.
    Senior Nicole Bauman tied a UW record by going a  perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16, tying a school record previously set by Alyssa Karel (5-of-5) against Ohio State on March 6, 2010.
    Senior Dakota Whyte has turned up her play after missing the San Diego State game with an illness. The 5-8 guard has scored in double-figures the last five games, averaging 13.0 points per game. She has also upped her assists, averaging 5.2 per game, including a season-high nine at Marquette on Dec. 6.
    After shooting 75 percent (9-12) from 3-point range against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16, the Badgers have moved into third in the Big Ten for 3-point percentage at 36.5 percent. Senior Tessa Cichy ranks 14th in the league at 39.4 percent while senior Nicole Bauman ties for seventh with 2.7 makes per game.
    Senior Nicole Bauman has 947 points in her career and needs just 53 points to become the 24th Badger to score 1,000 career points.

BADGERS IN THE BIG TEN
Senior Nicole Bauman leads the team and ranks 15th in the Big Ten with 16.1 points per game. She has double-figure points in nine of 10 games this season, including the last seven games in a row. Bauman also ties for seventh in the Big Ten in 3-pointers made (2.7), ninth in free throw percentage (83.9) and ties for 13th in blocks per game (1.2).
    Redshirt senior Michala Johnson ties for 11th in the Big Ten with 6.6 rebounds per game. Johnson also ties for 13th in blocks per game (1.2), ties for 14th in offensive rebounds (2.1) and ties for 14th in defensive rebounds (4.5).
    Senior Tessa Cichy ranks 14th in the Big Ten with a 3-point percentage of 39.4. The 5-10 guard is 13-33 from 3-point range this season, tying her season-best makes from deep.
    Senior Dakota Whyte ties for 13th in the league with 4.0 assists per game, averaging a season-best helpers. Whyte also ranks 15th in free throw percentage at .805.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000
Senior Nicole Bauman has 947 points in her career and needs just 53 points to become the 24th Badger to score 1,000 career points.
    The 5-10 guard has scored double figures in the last seven games, averaging 18 points per game over the stretch. Bauman is shooting 45.2 percent (42-93) from the field, including 46.3 percent (25-54) from 3-point range, over the last seven.
    Bauman reached the 900-point mark in her career on Dec. 10 against Florida.
    In 2014-15, Bauman was the Big Ten's most improved scorer, more than doubling her sophomore season points by collecting 413 points compared to 171 in 2013-14. She averaged 6.1 ppg as a sophomore and upped that to 15.3 ppg as a junior, an improvement of 9.2 ppg. Bauman leads the Badgers with 16.1 points per game this season.

ACTIVE LEADERS
Senior Nicole Bauman ranks 14th among active scoring leaders in the Big Ten with 947 points. Bauman also ranks 14th among active players with 235 career assists, just behind teammate Dakota Whyte, who ranks 12th with 241 dimes.

CAREER LIST UPDATES
Senior Michala Johnson is shooting 54.1 percent (282-521) from the field for her Badger career, which would go down in the UW record books as the No. 1 best shooting percentage. The current mark is 53.1 percent set by Barb Franke (1991-96).
    Senior Nicole Bauman ranks fifth on the UW career record list with 187 made 3-pointers. She needs four more triples to move into fourth, currently held by Kyle Black (1998-2002) with 191. Bauman continues to lead the Badger career list in 3-point percentage at .409 (187-457). Her 457 attempts from deep currently ranks ninth. She needs three more attempts to move into eighth, a position currently held by Alyssa Karel (2007-11) with 460 attempts.

FOLLOW THE LEADER
Senior Nicole Bauman has been the Badgers' leading scorer in seven of the 10 games this season, including the last four in a row. Bauman has also been the team's assists leader in five games and the blocks leader in four games.
    Sophomore Cayla McMorris has led the team in scoring in two games while Dakota Whyte and Michala Johnson have both led in scoring in one game.
    Johnson has led the Badgers in rebounding in a team-best four games while senior Tessa Cichy has been the top boarder in three games.
    Cichy has also led UW in steals in four games while Whyte was the leader in three games.
    Whyte and Bauman have both led the Badgers in five games while Cichy has been the leader in one.

HITTING FROM THE LINE
Senior Dakota Whyte has missed only one free throw in her last three games, shooting 9-10 (90 percent) from the line. The 5-8 guard was a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe vs. Green Bay, 2-2 vs. Florida and 3-4 vs. Northern Illinois.

ROLLING WITH MARBLE
Redshirt freshman Roichelle Marble scored 12 points against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16, her second double-figure scoring game of her career.
    The 5-7 guard was 5-8 (.625) from the field, including 2-3 (.667) from 3-point range. Marble also added one rebound, one assist and one steal in 20 minutes. 
    On the season, Marble averages 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 13 points at San Diego State on Nov. 29.

MARSHA, MARSHA, MARSHA!
Freshman Marsha Howard had a breakout game against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16. The 6-0 guard/forward had a career-high eight points, shooting 3-5 from the field, and also led the team with nine rebounds.
    Howard also set career bests, shooting 2-5 from the free throw line, and added her first career block while playing in a career-high 18 minutes.
    Howard has played in seven games this season, averaging 9.3 minutes per game. She adds 1.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.

BADGER BOARDS
Junior Tessa Cichy's had a career-high 16 rebounds against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 14. It is also a season high for a UW player.
    Redshirt junior Avyanna Young and freshman Cayla McMorris have also pulled down double-figure rebounds this season. Young had 12 rebounds at Wake Forest on Dec. 2 while McMorris has a career-high 10 boards at San Diego State on Nov. 29.
    Freshman Marsha Howard led the Badgers with a career-high nine rebounds against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16.
    Senior Michala Johnson leads the Badgers with 6.6 boards per game, which ties for 11th in the Big Ten. Junior Avyanna Young ranks second with 5.8 rebounds per game while Cichy adds 5.3 boards per game.

RETURN OF THE BAUMAN BOMB
After struggling to find her 3-point stride early on, senior Nicole Bauman started to get hot from beyond the arc in the SDSU Thanksgiving Classic.
    After going 1-for-6 in the home opener, 1-for-9 in the loss to Drake and not making any against Dayton, Bauman knocked in 2-of-6 attempts against Delaware and 6-of-12 against San Diego State. Her six 3-pointers against San Diego State is tied for the second-most in a single game by any Big Ten player this season. Her 12 3-point attempts is also tied for the second-most attempts.
    The New Berlin, Wisconsin, native has continued her strong shooting from deep, hitting 4-of-8 against Marquette, 3-of-7 against Green Bay and 5-5 against Northern Illinois.
    Bauman is shooting .375 (27-72) from 3-point range on the season for second on the team. She also ranks eighth in the conference for 3-point field goals made (22). She ranks 86th in the NCAA for her 22 long shots.

BADGER BLOCK
Seniors Nicole Bauman and Michala Johnson lead the Badgers and tie for 13th in the Big Ten with 1.2 blocks per game. Bauman has led the team in blocks in four games while Johnson has been the block leader in three games. Bauman has tied her career high for blocks (3) twice this season. She has 12 blocks this season, equalling her junior season total and needs just three more to equal her freshmen year total.
Johnson tied her career best with four blocks against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16.

SEEING DOUBLE
Senior Nicole Bauman is currently on a seven-game double digit scoring streak, the longest of any Badger this season. Bauman's longest double figure scoring streak is 14 games.
    Bauman is the only Badger to score 20-plus points this season. Last season, she notched seven 20-plus scoring games and had a career-best streak of three 20-plus scoring games. She has currently compiled nine double-digit scoring games this season. In 2014-15, she had a team-high 23 games in double figures.
    Seven Badgers have scored in double figures in at least one game this season. Seniors Dakota Whyte and Michala Johnson rank second on the team with 10-or-more points in six games. Whyte is on a five-game double-figure scoring streak, averaging 13 points per game.

CAREER MARKS
Senior Tessa Cichy pulled down 16 rebounds and set a new career high vs. LA Tech on Nov. 14. Her previous mark of 10 was set on Jan. 6, 2015 against Penn State. The 6-0 guard also made a career-best three 3-point field goals against Delaware on Nov. 27, tying her career high with six triple attempts.
    Senior Nicole Bauman tied her career high with three blocks twice this season—against La Tech on Nov. 14 and against Delaware on Nov. 27. She also tied her career high with five made free throws on five attempts (1.000 percent) against the Lady Techsters. The 5-10 guard had a career-best four steals against La Tech and tied a school record by going 5-for-5 from 3-point range against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16. 
    Senior Michala Johnson had a career-high three steals against Florida on Dec. 10. She also took a career-high 14 field goal attempts at Marquette on Dec. 6 and tied her career high with four blocks against Northern Illinois on Dec. 16.
    Sophomore Cayla McMorris tied her career high with 17 points at Dayton on Nov. 22. She also pulled down a career best 10 rebounds at San Diego State while adding a career-high four assists. She also tied her career high with three 3-point field goals made at Wake Forest.
    Senior Dakota Whyte set a new career high after shooting a perfect 1.000 percent (6-6) from the free throw line against La Tech on Nov. 14. She also tied her career high with steals against Green Bay on Dec. 13.

COUNTING DOWN

  • Senior Tessa Cichy needs just 17 points to reach 500 points for her career. The 6-0 guard was close to a double-double with nine points and 16 rebounds on Nov. 18 against Drake but did pass the 400-point mark in her career and now has a total of 477 points in her career. She totaled just 118 points in her freshman and sophomore campaigns and more than doubled that total with 279 points as a junior.
  • Senior Michala Johnson needs just eight rebounds to 400 career boards.
  • Junior Avyanna Young will reach 600 career points with one tally.

WALK-ONS JOIN THE TEAM
Redshirt junior Taylor Kuhn and redshirt freshman Lexy Richardson have been added to the Badger squad as walk-ons.
    Kuhn, a 5-10 guard, from Medford, Wisconsin, received all-conference honorable mention honors in 2009-10 and first-team all-conference in 2011-12, aiding her team to back-to-back Great Northern Conference championships. She was also named the team's most valuable player in 2011-12 on top of clinching all-state honorable mention status. In 2012, the two-time team captain was named the Medford Area Senior High Female Athlete of the Year.
    Richardson, a 5-9 guard, joins the Badgers after serving as a team manager the last year-and-a-half. The Verona, Wisconsin, native was a second-team all-conference selection as a junior and first-team all-conference pick as a senior for Verona Area High School. She was also a four-year letterwinner in track and field and dance team. Richardson was a participant in the 2014 WBCA All-Star game.

SHAKE IT UP
The Badgers are 2-2 with a starting lineup that consists of seniors Nicole Bauman, Tessa Cichy, Michala Johnson, junior Avyanna Young and sophomore Cayla McMorris.
    Wisconsin returned to the previous starting lineup of Bauman, Cichy, Johnson, Young and Dakota Whyte the last three games and are now 2-5 with that crew.
Bauman, Cichy, Johnson and Young have started every game this season for the Badgers.

INJURY REPORT
Redshirt sophomore Michaela Crall is out indefinitely with a lower leg injury.
Sophomore Cayla McMorris missed the Northern Illinois with a lower leg injury.

CICHY STRETCH
Senior Tessa Cichy has played in 53 consecutive games, the longest current streak of any Badger. The guard will play in her 100th career game in six contests.
Senior Dakota Whyte will also play in her 100th career game in five contests while senior Nicole Bauman needs six events for 100 career games.

SCOUTING INDIANA
This game will be the 69th meeting between the two conference teams. Indiana leads the all-time series 46-22 overall but Wisconsin has a 17-13 advantage in Madison.
    The Hoosiers (8-4, 0-0) wrapped up the non-conference season on Monday with a 76-60 win at home over Yale.
Indiana started the season, winning seven of its first nine games before losing two straight at the Florida Sunshine Classic in Coral Gables, Florida.
    IU has played seven teams that played in the postseason a year ago during non-conference play, five of those teams played in the NCAA Tournament last season making Indiana just one of 11 programs in the power five conferences to have played five or more NCAA teams from 2015.
    Indiana has played three nationally-ranked opponents in non-Big Ten play (Chattanooga, DePaul, Miami), marking the first time since 2007 that IU has played at three ranked non-conference opponents in the same season.
    The Hoosiers are taking advantage of getting to the free throw line as Indiana has made more free throws (185) than its opponents have attempted (131) and lead the Big Ten in free throws made.
IU is shooting 72.8 percent from the charity stripe as a team and outscoring foes 185-85 at the free throw line.
    Sophomore Tyra Buss has scored in double figures in every game this year and has tallied 21 or more in five of the last seven contests to average 19.6 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 79.2 percent from the line for the season. Buss ranks second in the nation in free throws made (84) and attempted (106) while shooting 79.2 perccent from the charity stripe.
    Amanda Cahill has shot 52.6 percent from the field and 48.5 percent from beyond the arc so far this season while averaging 13.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. She has shot 66.7 percent or better from the field in six games, 70 percent or better four times and 83.3 percent in one game.
