MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's softball team split its doubleheader against Green Bay on Tuesday, topping the Phoenix 6-2 in game one but falling in game two, 15-9.
In game one, the Badgers (18-23) outhit the Green Bay (13-19) 14-5 with seven Badgers connecting. Sophomore Chloe Miller and freshman Kelsey Jenkins led the way with three each, which tied a season high for Jenkins. Miller and junior Ashley Van Zeeland each notched a game-high two RBIs, while senior Megan Tancill and junior Stefanni LaJeunesse each recorded one RBI.
"It was fun to see a lot of people swing the bat," UW head coach Yvette Healy said. "A lot of different people helped score. Kelsey Jenkins as a freshman had an awesome day... it was really fun to watch her."

Jenkins and Miller hit back-to-back singles to start things off for UW. Miller and Jenkins attempted a double steal and Jenkins was tagged out at third, but Miller made it to second. Senior Marissa Mersch was walked, and Van Zeeland followed with an RBI single to put the Badgers on top 1-0.
Tancill then drilled an RBI single, bringing in Mersch and pushing UW up 2-0 after one inning.
Junior Katie Christner was walked to start the second. Senior Maria Van Abel and Jenkins followed with singles to load the bases for the Cardinal and White. Miller stepped up to the plate and hit an RBI single bringing in Christner and giving UW a 3-1 advantage.
In the fifth, Mersch was walked, Van Zeeland reached on an error by first base and Tancill singled to right field. Mersch was called out for leaving second early, but Rodman hit a single to load the bases for UW. LaJeunesse was walked, which scored Van Zeeland and gave the Badgers a two-run edge (4-2).
In the bottom of the sixth, Jenkins hit a lead-off double and then Miller smashed a double to right field to bring home Jenkins and give Wisconsin a 5-2 lead. Van Zeeland followed with an RBI single to put UW on top of Green Bay, 6-2.
The Phoenix couldn't counter in the seventh and freshman Mariah Watts closed out the game with a strikeout and a Badgers victory.
Watts tallied four strikeouts in seven innings pitched and allowed two runs and five hits. With the win, she moves to 7-6 on the season.
The Badgers dropped the second game of the day, falling to the Phoenix 15-9 after an explosive sixth inning from Green Bay, including a grand slam from Miranda Spangberg, was too much to overcome for UW.
Jenkins led the way with a career-high three RBI and Wisconsin tallied 15 hits to Green Bay's 14. The Phoenix committed four errors, while the Badgers tallied two miscues.
Miller hit an RBI single bringing in Jenkins to give UW a 1-0 lead after one.
Green Bay took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second, but Wisconsin responded with four runs to retake the lead, 5-2. Van Zeeland hit a lead-off single down left field to start off the bottom of the inning. LaJeunesse then slammed an RBI double bringing in Van Zeeland to tie it up, 2-2.
With bases loaded, Jenkins stepped up to the plate and drove a bases-clearing double to give the Badgers the 5-2 edge.
In the top of the third, Green Bay scored on an error and Allie Taylor hit a two-RBI single to tie it up 5-5.
Miller led off with a double in the bottom of the frame, and Tancill followed with a single advancing Miller to third. LaJeunesse tallied an RBI single to bring Miller home and to return the lead back to Wisconsin, 6-5.
In the fourth frame, the Phoenix tied it up again, 6-6, behind an RBI single from Jaclyn Delagrange.
For Wisconsin, Van Abel hit a lead-off single and then stole second base. Jenkins logged a single, advancing Van Abel to third and then home on an error by the catcher as UW retook the lead, 7-6.
Green Bay countered in the top of the fifth inning with three runs (9-7), and Wisconsin could only tally one run in the bottom of the inning off of an RBI single from Nyah Rodman to close the gap to one run, 9-8.
In the sixth frame, back-to-back walks with bases loaded gave GB an 11-8 lead. Spangberg followed with grand slam to give stretch their lead, 15-8.
Mersch notched a double to start the bottom of the frame, then Miller logged an RBI single that brought in Mersch to make it 15-9. But Wisconsin couldn't add on any more runs in the final two innings and ultimately fell, 15-9.
Freshman Annie Davis pitched 4.2 innings for the Badgers and allowed nine runs and 11 hits while striking out three. Watts pitched the final 2.1 innings and notched two strikeouts while allowing six runs on three hits.
Wisconsin is back in action this Friday-Sunday, April 17-19, as the Badgers take on Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. UW begins the three-game series on Friday with a 5:30 p.m. contest against the Illini.
