MADISON, Wis. --Â When the leaves change colors this fall, the Wisconsin softball team will be turning a new leaf as well with its first look at a new young team. Head coach Yvette Healy and the Badgers will host two home doubleheaders and travel for two series in 2015.
"With so many new faces on the team, we're excited to play a tough exhibition schedule to see how we match up," Healy said. "We are thrilled to have Green Bay and Northern Illinois travel to Madison for four home games this fall."
The Badgers' fall season kicks off on the road at Notre Dame on Sept. 20 for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. UW returns home to host a doubleheader with Northern Illinois on Sept. 27 starting at 2 p.m.
"The Irish have the kind of perennial success that we aspire towards," Healy said. "What a great environment for the Badgers to open our 2015-16 season. Illinois State is always tough and competes for the postseason every year. Notre Dame was a top-15 team last season and hosted an NCAA regional."
Green Bay travels down the road to Madison for a pair of games starting with a 2 p.m. contest against the Badgers on Oct. 4. Wisconsin closes out the fall season with a road doubleheader at Illinois State on Oct. 10, as first pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Bloomington, Illinois.
"Traveling to Notre Dame and Illinois State will give us the unique opportunity to play a few legacy powerhouse programs early on," Healy said.
