Badgers head to East Lansing to face Spartans

Wisconsin faces Michigan State at noon on Sunday
Wisconsin (6-2-1 overall, 3-1-0 Big Ten) travels to East Lansing to play Michigan State (8-2-0 overall, 3-1-0 Big Ten) for a Sunday afternoon match. If foretold by last year's play, this year's competition  could be in large part a physically heated and even contest. Wisconsin, who has been dominant at home producing an undefeated home record, has broken even on the road, going 2-2-1. The match will be the deciding factor for second place in the Big Ten behind perennial powerhouse, Maryland. The teams will square off at the DeMartin Soccer Stadium at noon.
2. UW is tied for second in the Big Ten (3-1-0) with Michigan State (3-1-0) behind Maryland (4-0-1), both are top-25 teams.

As Big Ten Rivals, the Spartans and the Badgers have seen a lot of each other. In a 38-game soccer history between the two prestigious schools, the Badgers have a commanding lead in the overall series category, leading Michigan State 22-11-5. The Badgers also lead the series when playing at home 12-4-2, in East Lansing 8-6-2, and neutral venues 2-1-1.
In last year's match-up, Wisconsin and Michigan State squared off in a massively physical match at the McClimon Soccer complex. After 110 minutes, neither team was successful in getting on the board and the game ended in a draw, 0-0.
The Spartans
Michigan State finished the 2015 season 8-9-2 and 2-4-2 in the conference. The Spartans finished their campaign a year ago with six straight losses and missing out on the Big East Tournament.
This year, Michigan State is off to a very good start and have become a force in the NSCAA Top 25 Rankings, clocking in at 21. The Green and White are currently 8-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play.

UW and Michigan State have overlapped on two games so far this year, each having the same results. The Badgers logged a 2-1 (2OT) win over Michigan while the Spartans won 1-0 in regular time.
