WACO, Texas – On the final day of the Baylor Classic, the Badgers continued to hone their skills, playing pick up matches against Georgia State and Troy.

Junior Kelsey Grambeau was relentless against Troy's Sanae Ohta, winning 6-2, 7-6 (3), 10-7.

Freshman Christina Zordani also finished the weekend with a singles victory against Georgia State's Tarani Kamoe, 6-4, 7-5.

Senior Sydney Rider and freshman Michelle Linden completed the tournament with setbacks to Georgia State's Kristin Rehse and Daniela Ramirez respectively.

The Badgers will be back on the court for the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional on Oct. 20 in East Lansing, Mich.

WACO, Texas – After a rather successful first day at the Baylor Classic, the Badgers look to fight their way back up the ladder after Saturday's matches.

Senior Maria Avgerinos advanced to the semifinals after defeating Georgia State's Tarani Kamoe in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. However, her opponent was ready to fight and Avgerinos fell short against Baylor's Elizabeth Profit, 6-1, 6-1.  

Junior Kelsey Grambeau had a similar run of events as Avgerinos. She overcame her first opponent, Georgia State's Daniela Ramirez, 6-4, 6-2. She also then went down in her second match of the day battling Georgia State's Damira Muminovic, 6-3, 6-7, 11-9.

In doubles action, Christina Zordani and Avgerinos took the court for the first time this tournament. They were victorious in their first match against Georgia State's Tarani Kamoe and Daniela Ramirez, 8-4. They dropped their second match of the day by an 8-7 decision to Troy's Nancy Karaky and Alicia Rodriguez.

The Baylor Classic will conclude tomorrow at the Hurd Tennis Center.

WACO, Texas – After a difficult battle in Evanston last weekend, senior Maria Avgerinos came ready and determined to improve at the Under Armour/Baylor Classic in Waco, Texas.

Avgerinos advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles bracket after winning both her matches on Friday. She overcame Troy's Nancy Karaky, 6-1, 6-1, and carried that success to her next match defeating Louisiana Monroe's Karolina Snita, 6-2, 7-5.

Freshmen Melissa Pick and Michelle Linden also looked to improve this weekend after playing in the Wildcat Invite last weekend with Avgerinos. Both Pick and Linden won their first singles match of the day, and fell in their second match.

Pick and Kelsey Grambeau were the only pair to compete in doubles play on Friday. They advanced to round two after beating Louisiana Monroe's Tiffany Mylonas and Stefana Andrei, 8-5.

The duo of freshman Christina Zordani and Avgerinos received an opening-round bye and will begin their doubles tournament on Saturday against Georgia State's Tarani Kamoe and Daniela Ramirez. 

Action will continue on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
