Sholokhova and Urbanova win ITA All-American Doubles Championships

Duo becomes the first ITA doubles champions in program history

CARY, N.C. - Maria Sholokhova and Lucie Urbanova of Wisconsin women's tennis earned All-American status with their doubles win at the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday, Sept. 28.

The duo, ranked No. 39 in the ITA preseason poll, made history as the first male or female pairing from Wisconsin to win the tournament. They are also the program's fourth doubles All-Americans and the first since Barbara Urbanska and Marjon Copier in 1998.

Sholokhova becomes the first in program history - and the first nationally since UCLA's Robin Anderson (2013-14) - to capture both the singles and doubles titles.

Despite a loss in the qualifying round, Sholokhova and Urbanova secured a spot in the main draw and responded with a dominant 5-0 run, knocking off No. 3 Bennett/Bowers (Auburn), No. 10 Broadfoot/Osuigwe (NC State), and No. 26 Genis Salas/Xu (Virginia).

The Russian and Czech Republic natives defeated No. 27 Gilheany/Nahum of Oklahoma, 6-3, 6-3, to earn the title of ITA All-American Champions.

With this win, Sholokhova and Urbanova became automatic qualifiers for the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships, which will take place in Orlando, Florida, on Nov. 18–23.
