Badgers make ITA rankings for first time in years
The Wisconsin men's tennis team is back in the ITA rankings for the first time since the spring of 2014. Slotted at #74, the list ranks the top 75 teams in the nation. The last time the Badgers (4-0) were ranked was the week of April 8, 2014, when they were rated 74th overall.
Guided by first-year head coach Danny Westerman, UW has won four consecutive home matches. Â Last week the Badgers had a busy but successful week of tennis, defeating all three opponents faced. This included a 4-3 upset of #34 Princeton, and two wins in one day as UW hosted its only doubleheader of the season, cruising by Valparaiso 6-1, and sweeping South Dakota State 7-0.Â
The Badgers hope to keep their streak alive as they open up Big Ten play and travel to rival Minnesota, who is ranked 23rd nationally. Match time is set for Noon on Sunday, February 7 at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.Â
