Big Ten Championships Results Day 2

IOWA CITY, Iowa –
For the second-consecutive year Isaac Jordan defeated his cousin, Bo Jordan of Ohio State, to eclipse the 165-pound Big Ten title.

There was no score in the first period, as the duo sized one another up not wanting to make an early mistake.

Bo chose bottom to start the second and later escaped but Isaac had amassed nearly a minute and a half of riding time which meant the match was essentially tied entering the third.

The match looked to be going to overtime but with just two seconds left Isaac picked up Bo and dropped him for the takedown and the win.

With the triumph, Isaac is now 25-0 on the season and has won 26-straight matches dating back to last season.

After losing in the semifinal of the 133-pound bracket, sixth-seeded Ryan Taylor worked back to win the consolation semifinal, 9-5, over No. 10 Anthony Giraldo of Rutgers to earn a spot in the third-place match against Penn State's three seed, Jordan Conaway.

Taylor and Conaway fought to a stalemate in the first period and were knotted at three apiece through two.

Wisconsin's 133-pounder recorded a reversal 20 seconds into the third before allowing an escape but Conaway was unable to notch any more points, as Taylor sealed the victory, 5-4.

Among Wisconsin's 10 wrestlers to compete at the 2016 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, seven earned a placement of eighth or better.

Three Badgers earned seventh-place finishes, while two others were eighth.

No. 6 Johnny Jimenez earned a 11-3 major decision win over eighth-seeded Sean McCabe of Rutgers to capture seventh place in the 125-pound bracket.

A huge second period that included an escape, takedown and four-point nearfall catapulted him to victory.

At 184 pounds, eight seed Ryan Christensen picked up seventh by defeating Ohio State's sixth-seeded wrestler, Kenny Courts, 10-4.

There was no scoring in the first period but Christensen went for an escape and a takedown in the second and a reversal, four-point nearfall and riding time point in the third to take the match.

Brock Horwath grabbed seventh in the heavyweight bracket, winning by medical forfeit over No. 3 Sam Stoll of Iowa.

Wrestling in the 157-pound seventh-place match, TJ Ruschell dropped a 12-5 result to Nebraska's seven seed, Tyler Berger.

The Badgers wrestler remained within three points through two periods but Berger's five-point third was enough to grant him the win.

No. 8 Ricky Robertson met ninth-seeded Phil Bakuckas of RU in the seventh-place match, losing by pin at the 3:20 mark.

Wisconsin's finished with 67.5 team points to place eighth. Penn State took the tournament championship with 150.5 points.

With Sunday's results, Jimenez, Taylor, Jordan, Robertson and Christensen all automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships.

The national tournament runs from March 17-19 in New York City.
