Wajda ties season-low scorecard at Palmetto Intercollegiate

Badgers moved up one spot in round 3 to finish 16th

AIKEN, S.C. – The Wisconsin men's golf team jumped one spot on the final day of the 54-hole Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate to place 16th on the team leaderboard.

UW (+49, 307-289-293=889) recorded a 13-over 293 in Round 3 which put the team at 49-over for the event.
Â
The Badgers placed three strokes behind Idaho (+46, 299-292-295=886) in 15th and four shots back of 14th-place Akron (+45, 290-301-294=885).
Â
South Carolina (-19, 276-266-279=821) ran away with the tournament crown, recording a 19-over 821 which was 18 strokes better than Virginia (-1, 283-273-283=839) in second.

The next closest team was Augusta (+17, 280-292-285=857) at 17-over, while East Carolina (+21, 293-280-288=861) and Chattanooga (+21, 289-290-282=861) were tied for fourth with a 21-over 861.

Matthew NeSmith (-7, 67-67-69=203) of South Carolina took first on the player leaderboard, followed by Augusta's Maverick Antcliff (-6, 68-69-67=204). The pair notched three-straight rounds in the 60s.

Eddie Wajda III (+10, 77-72-71=220) was the lone Badger to improve his score in each round, as he tied for 37th with a 10-over 220. His third-round 71 and tournament scorecard of 220 tied season lows.

Tied for 46th was Ben Skogen (+12, 78-69-75=222), who was 12-over.

After going for a 74 in the third round, Jordan Hahn was Wisconsin's third-best golfer at a 13-over 223. He finished knotted for 78th.

Johnny Decker (+19, 77-75-77=229) placed tied-for-78th at a 19-over, while Michael Abrahamson (+24, 77-84-73=234) rounded out the Badgers' team scoring in 86th at 24-over.

"Eddie (Wjada) really had a great round 3 and 1-over is the worst he could of shot, head coach Micahel Burcin said. "Hahn and Skogen showed glimpses of good play and I know they will be ready to go from here on out."
Next up for UW is the Airstream Adventures Northwest Classic, March 21-22, in Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, Oregon.
After playing in the first tournament of the spring, Burcin said, "We need to have a good two weeks of practice and qualifying and hopefully we will have some guys tighten up as we look forward to the rest of the spring."
