
Tournament Central: Wisconsin set for Big Ten Tournament

Eighth-seeded Badgers draw No. 9 seed Indiana in opening game
State College, Pa. -- The Wisconsin softball team drew the No. 8 seed in the 2016 Big Ten Softball tournament and is set to take on the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday night. All games will be played at Nittany Lion Softball Park in State College, Pennsylvania.Â

The winner of Thursday night's contest will move on to face top-seeded Michigan in the quarterfinals on Friday night at 7 p.m. CT. The Wolverines secured their 20th conference championship with a victory over Rutgers on Saturday.
The tournament is a single-elimination format that will begin on Thursday with the title contest slated for Saturday night at Beard Field in State College. The tournament champion will earn the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Friday's quarterfinal round will begin at 12 p.m., with four games determining the semifinalists. The first semifinal is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, with the second semifinal scheduled for 3:30 p.m. First pitch for Saturday's championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
BTN will provide live coverage of the entire Big Ten Softball Tournament. Studio coverage can be found in the B1G Diamond Report on both Friday night at approximately 10 p.m. and following the championship game on Saturday, at approximately 8:30 p.m. On-site interviews with a winning player and coach can also be seen immediately following every game of the tournament.
To end the regular season, the Badgers battled Nebraska in a doubleheader where both games went into extra innings and lasted a total of 23 innings and seven and a half hours. UW took the first game 6-4, but dropped the second game after a walkoff home run gave the Huskers a 6-5 win.
Wisconsin leads the all-time series with Indiana 24-15 but the series is tied 1-1 at neutral locations.
