Konwent named Wisconsin Gatorade Softball Player of the Year

Incoming freshman wins prestigious award for second-straight season
MADISON, Wis. – After another stellar season at Wetosha Central High School, incoming Wisconsin Softball freshman Kayla Konwent has been named the 2016 Wisconsin Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for the second-straight season.
The Salem, Wisconsin, native led the Wetosha Central Falcons to a 23-4 record and a berth in the Division I, Section 5 Tournament semifinals. Konwent held a .529 batting average with six home runs and 32 RBI in 27 games this season.
The 5-foot-10 catcher drew 45 walks in 99 plate appearances. A two-time Division I Player of the Year, Konwent also logged six doubles and scored 25 runs. She entered the semifinals with a .747 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Konwent is ranked No. 19 in the nation on FloSoftball's top 100 and was a 2015 FloSoftball First Team All-American.
Konwent maintained a 3.60 GPA, while also serving as a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and volunteering locally as a youth softball coach.
