UW in sixth through 36 holes, just nine strokes off the lead
MADISON, Wis. – Propelled by an on-the-fly hole-in-one on his second-to-last hole, Wisconsin junior Eddie Wajda shot a 2-under par 70 to move into a tie for ninth place after the second round of the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course.

After netting an even par on Sunday, the Badgers (+7, 288-295=583) dropped three spots as a team in the breezy conditions, to sixth place in the 13-team field. The top six teams are separated by just nine strokes heading into Tuesday's final round.
"I'd say it was average. We certainly didn't move up but at the same time we're in no way out of it, either," UW head coach Michael Burcin said. "I think we have a little more work to make up than we hoped for but it was really difficult out there today. I thought attitudes were good. Eddie's round today was really big, he kind of kept us in the tournament for tomorrow."
Senior co-captain Ben Skogen (70-75=145) joins Wajda in the top-15, at 3-over par. One stroke behind him are junior Johnny Decker (73-75=148) and sophomore Jordan Hahn (73-75=148), both tied for 25th place. Rounding out the group is freshman Nick Robinson (72-80=152), whose 8-over performance moved him into a tie for 46th place.
Competing as individuals, freshman Pete Kuhl (73-77=150) is 6-over and tied for 37th while sophomore Brett Robinson (78-76=154) shot 4-over on the day to move up the leaderboard into a tie for 56th. Senior Tommy Schofield (76-85=161) shot 13-over to be tied for 76th place and junior Michael Abrahamson (80-83=163) is now 19-over and tied for 80th place.
Iowa State (-2, 286-288=574) held on to its lead from the first round, but Illinois State (+6, 286-296=582) saw its share of the lead from Sunday slip away after shooting 8-over on Monday to drop to fifth place. Nevada (+1, 292-285=577), Wofford (+2, 293-285=578) and Marquette (+4, 289-291=580) rounded out the top five.
"We're excited going into the final day," Burcin said. "We've got to get off to a good start tomorrow and we're at home so we are definitely going to be familiar with everything that is going on. With a good start I really like our chances tomorrow."
Tuesday's third round will be a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
