Good evening Badger Fans!Â
The buzz is back on campus as the Badgers have successfully made it through the first week of the spring semester. Campus is filled with students once again, creating an innate energy among everyone.Â
Last weekend the Badgers swept St. Cloud State, defeating the Huskies 9-0 Friday night and 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
Highlights of the first game include BOTH Annie Pankowski and Emily Clark earning hat tricks, along with goals by Presley Norby, Abby Roque, and Mekenzie Steffen.Â
Mekenzie's goal was her first as a Badger, breaking the rite of passage for the young freshman. Congrats Mek! So proud of you.Â
I asked Clarky to describe her feelings on capturing her first-ever hat trick wearing the Cardinal and White.Â
"It was a pretty special feeling for sure," she said. "Even though I didn't know until I got one until after the game it was a really awesome feeling."Â
The Badger junior's goal was originally given to Lauren Williams, shooting a rocket from the point, but it was later discovered that Clarky managed to get a stick on the puck before it hit the back of the net. Clarky's stellar performance over the weekend gave her yet another WCHA Offensive Player of the Week honor. She rocks.Â
Saturday's highly-anticipated "Fill the Bowl" game shattered the Badger's NCAA single-game attendance record. I would like to take a moment to thank the 15,359 people who packed the Kohl Center, creating the most unbelievable atmosphere for a hockey game.Â
"The Fill the Bowl game was unbelievable," Clarky said. "It was so amazing to see how many people came out to support us.
"It was a day I will never forget."Â
I could not agree more. The Badgers were victorious over the Huskies with goals from Clarky and myself.Â
Playing in front of a crowd like that was a dream come true! We truly have the most amazing fans in the world.Â
The Badgers plan to take their momentum into this weekend's matchup against North Dakota.Â
Defenseman Maddie Rolfes shared her thoughts on what to expect from the team.Â
"After having some great chemistry and obviously a good outcome from the games last weekend, we are feeling confident and ready to take on North Dakota this weekend," she noted.
The Badgers take on the Fighting Hawks tomorrow at 1:07 p.m. and Sunday at 12:07 p.m.Â
We look forward to seeing you all there! If you are unable to make it, follow the game live on our Twitter feed (@BadgerWHockey) or on UWBadgers.com.
On Wisconsin!Â
