Davison named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

Freshman guard averaged 15 points, 2 steals per game
MADISON, Wis. — After making the first two starts of his career and providing a big boost for the Wisconsin men's basketball team this past week, Brad Davison was recognized as Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week by the league office on Monday.
For the week, Davison averaged 15 points and two steals per game, while shooting 50% from the floor and 47.4% from beyond the arc. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native came off the bench and provided a huge spark against No. 22 Baylor, tallying 12 points, four steals, one assist and one rebound. Davison made the first start of his career against No. 23 UCLA, finishing with 14 points, two rebounds and two steals. Against Milwaukee, Davison was an efficient 7-for-8 from the floor (5-6 3FG) and had career-highs in points (19), field goals (7) and 3s (5).
Davison has increased his scoring output in each of UW's six games this season. He ranks second on the team and third among Big Ten freshmen averaging 11.8 points per game. Davison ranks second in the Big Ten with 2.3 steals per game.
Davison is Wisconsin's first Big Ten Freshman of the Week since teammate Ethan Happ won the award three times in 2015-16, most recently Feb. 1, 2016. Davison is the fourth player in UW history to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, joining Happ, Nigel Hayes (2013-14) and Sam Dekker (2012-13).
Wisconsin faces No. 18 Virginia on the road Monday as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Tip is set for 8 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2. The Badgers return home and open Big Ten play on Saturday against Ohio State with a 4 p.m. contest on FOX.
